So I recently came across a job posting on Voice123, a platform for voice overs. Guess who posted it? Fiverr.

Yes, Fiverr is sourcing their voice overs - not from Fiverr - but from other platforms. That’s some peak irony with a side of hypocrisy right there.

Fiverr sneaking over to Voice123 like, "Hey, uh, can we borrow your freelancers to advertise how great ours are?"

It’s like McDonald’s catering their staff party with Burger King.

Way to show faith in your own platform. 👏

Yeah I think that's good technique.

It is if your goal is to tell the world that you have zero confidence in your own platform and freelancers, sure.

He just posts for the sake of levels... clearly.

As for your opinion, it is quite interesting to see they hire people from other platforms. We all expect them to hire people from their own platform but I guess it could depend on the project, if it's something specialized they couldn't find on Fiverr, or maybe the talent is slightly cheaper there. It could also be that they have some funds for free from that platform, etc. Who knows, really. But it's definitely not a great look when you have talent like that on your own site and you buy from somewhere else, that's for sure. I assume this isn't only valid for voiceovers, but also for other projects. I do see a lot of art/design content being comissioned by Fiverr, but very little when it comes to other niches.

While they should ideally hire from their own platform, but there is a possibility that they might be spending a certain % of their market research budget on competing platforms to understand the buying experience, talent quality, UI and many other things.

Its a common practice across industries to map the product and customer experience of competitors throughout the year, by spending a minuscule amount of money on them.
