Why are there so many scammers contacting me

So, I made my first gig yesterday, and in just two days, I lost count of how many scammers reached out to me. On their first try, I almost fell for it! Thanks to my programming knowledge, I noticed something was off with the message, so I searched the forum and found out it was a scam. For fresh starters without much knowledge of the internet, it’s really easy to get scammed. So, how can I reduce the number of scammers reaching out to me?
