Success Scores are a black box.  At this point you can have perfect metrics on your gigs but fellow sellers in your price range and market can dictate your score.  It appears you sink or swim based on your competitor sellers.

My score has dropped from an 8 to a 6 - yet in the last 3 months, I've never brought in so much business - and most of that was repeat business

As a result of that Success Score drop, I just lost my Level 2 status and I could laughably lose Level 1 too if things don't magically improve.   I have perfect scores and readily blow my customer's away with awesome results.  Guess that doesn't matter to the almighty Success Score algorithm.

The only thing I could think as a result is to compare yourself to other sellers and either your lower or raise your prices and reconsider your categories you place your gigs.  Sad you have to calculate things like this instead of just selling your services but that's where we are with the new scoring system.
