Hey! My name is PJ Wycech and I'm a Top Rated, Pro Seller. Additionally, won the Freelancer of the Month Award in August 2024.

One tip that might sound like common sense is to always provide more value than the gig promises. The saying "under-promise, over-deliver" perfectly captures this idea.

For sellers who offer consultations or any service involving a Zoom or Google Meet call with a buyer, I’d say 95% of the time, if we’ve blocked an hour, we end up going over. Time is your most valuable asset as a freelancer, and it’s equally important for the person you’re working with.

Using a phrase like, "I know we're at time, but do you have a little more time to keep talking?" achieves three things:

  1. It subtly lets them know you’re going beyond the allotted time.
  2. It reinforces that you’re over-delivering on the agreed service.
  3. It frames the extra time as something valuable that they’re choosing to engage in.

What do you think?

It could help but they might also start expecting to get more call time for free in future, and it could be a problem if you have other buyers with a close booked time.
