Question

Posted

Hi there!

I'm completely new to Fiverr and just created my account. Shortly after, I received a few messages that seemed to be from new clients. One of them included an image with a QR code and a logo called "Playstore" (as a beginner, it looked real to me). I reported the second message without interacting with it.

The issue is that I opened the image from the first message. Is there any risk from opening the image? If so, what steps should I take to protect myself?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Usually you don't get orders right away, you'd have to wait a while for your first order. If receive orders right away its probably a scam.

It's not. Sometimes you can get lucky and Fiverr gives you a boost. I know it was a long time ago but when I joined, I had someone place multiple orders hours after I joined, and they were a legit buyer. I know things are different now, but it is possible to get orders soon after you made the account. That being said, you have to perform your due dilligence and ensure that the buyer is indeed legit.

It happened to me as well. I run an antivirus test a day since then and I monitor the activity of my accounts.

If it was the scam of asking for your email address, then they would likely want to get your credit card information, not sending malware.

Keep calm, run an antivirus test and be patient.

Note: NEVER share your email address not contact information with anybody because that's against Fiverr ToS. And it also puts you in a high risk.

Welcome to the platform and best wishes in your freelancing journey!

You should visit their profile and try to get more information about them.

Do not engage with them in any sort of way and never share your personal information like bank details or email.
