Great questions!

1. Optimizations, in this case, refer to updating your gig in the hopes that it will perform better. Therefore, an example of over-optimization would be changing your gig title and tags every few days in hopes of increasing impressions. Again, it's best to wait 3-4 weeks between any optimizations you want to make.

2. Generally, none of these non-order-related activities will directly impact your ranking.

While these activities can enhance your chances of success on the platform, they will not directly determine your outcome in the algorithm.

Okay, So once I will change anything then I will see the result after 3 to 4 weeks. But if I don't see any performance of my gig. Then what should I do to rank my gig?

It’s the question that every new and eager seller has from the moment they hit “publish” on a new gig. It’s one that even more seasoned sellers find themselves pondering from time to time:
“How do I increase my rank and get on the first page?”

Before I spill the tea on Fiverr’s algorithm and what you should consider when trying to improve your ranking, let’s clarify a few things.

For starters, understand that fluctuations in your analytics are completely normal, especially if you are reviewing them daily.

Yes, I know–seeing your impressions take a dip can be absolutely gut-wrenching. But, it’s normal and happens even to the best of them. Expecting to always trend upwards or remain steady simply isn’t realistic, especially with external factors such as the number of buyers on the platform and marketplace trends also playing a role.

So, instead of fixating yourself on monitoring daily changes, focus on long-term trends which will give you a more accurate picture of your performance.

Secondly, remember that Fiverr is a curated marketplace, meaning search results are personalized to each user based on their buying behavior and other data. This means that where you appear on search results when searching from your page may be completely different than what another user would see.

It’s important to keep these two things in mind to avoid undue worry or misinterpreting the situation.

Now, in the cases where your gig is undoubtedly ranking low or declining, here’s what you need to know about our algorithm:

  • Buyer satisfaction is key. Since our algorithm focuses on pushing good quality sellers to relevant buyers, your buyer satisfaction will always play a significant role in your ranking. This means that while focusing on keywords and SEO can be helpful to a certain extent, your top priority should be delivering top-notch service, and securing good public and private reviews.
  • Over-optimizing your profile can backfire. Don’t get me wrong– optimizing your profile is great. Changing it too often, however, can confuse the algorithm and make it less likely that it will push your gigs in relevant searches. If you make changes, give it 3-4 weeks to gauge whether the changes are helping or hurting.
  • Availability matters. As a best practice, it’s always in your best interest to complete your projects efficiently and on time to ensure the algorithm knows you are ready for more work. Further, be mindful of your time away from the platform. While we encourage you to take breaks and turning on Vacation Mode doesn’t directly impact your profile, remember that our algorithm looks at data from recent activity to know which Gigs to push out. Not having recent activity due to long periods of inactivity may cause the algorithm to slow down pushing out your Gigs. Maintaining consistent activity helps keep your gigs visible.

At the end of the day, the hot question of improving your ranking doesn’t have a magic answer or quick fix. Instead, it’s all about being intentional in delivering exceptional service to your clients while also remaining consistent and patient. Focus on these few principles, and before you know it, you’ll be on the road to page one.

Good luck!

If you have optimized your gig and you still don't get orders, then the only way is to GET A LUCK

Hi @Kesha

This is really helpful, thank you for the insight! I have a question regarding gig changes: What happens if a seller deletes their gig altogether and then recreates it, either in the same category or a new one? Would this affect the visibility of the new gig and the ranking within search results? Additionally, would such changes impact order performance or delivery time expectations?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

This is a very informative post, but I saw it after publishing my four gigs. A few days ago, I edited my gig, and it deranked from pages 4 to 17, and I am worried about it. Here, I want to ask how often it is feasible to edit the gig, like if we want to edit gig images or description. The gig had 5 star rating and best performing. I have done good seo but all gigs are on last pages. please give tips to improve it. kind regards

Thank you for your excellent guidance. These will help me a lot. I was especially worried about the fluctuation of impressions. Now I know that it's totally okay. You have also clarified the optimization issue very nicely. What little is known about Fiberr's algorithm is indeed unique.

This post of yours can prove to be a boon for new Fiverr freelancers like us, but as far as I have seen, new freelancers are far away from blog posts and Fiverr community, if a freelancer has any kind of problem or doubt, then they first go to YouTube videos, and I also did the same and I was told in all the videos to make a good profile and it was not told in any video that you can also read information from Fiverr community blog. Because YouTubers know that if they come to know about the community of freelancers, then they can stop coming to YouTube and watching their videos.

While there is some good and sound advice on YouTube, it's always better to get your information straight from the source. I'm happy that you have found your way to the community. 💚

Contrary to some of the advice that floats around, remaining active does not boost your rank.

For better ranking, please follow the advice explained above, as these are the factors that truly impact how the algorithm will push your gigs.

It is absolutely right . Being online alone is not the source of gig ranking.  This is very good advice you have given.

I have to admit I am guilty of over-optimizing my gigs at times.

It's ok! At least now you know. 😊

I know it's tempting to want to make changes as soon as you think it's not working, but patience is a virtue and has many great rewards.

This could work!

If videos are hard to process (because they need to be listened to, etc) I've pitched the idea of doing small 'comics' before as well with very simple language. Nothing too crazy or silly, just straight-to-the point text that explains the basics.

All of the points above are valid (though perhaps also fairly evident to those who have been here for a bit) but languages are hard (and apparently, even fluent English-speakers have a pretty high rate of functional illiteracy (this is such a sad fact!) So maybe videos and graphics (that are short and simple) could help a ton!

You just actually inspired me on something! Great idea
