Question

Posted

I have an order with a buyer that was a custom order. The order is about making 15 short videos within 7 days for 50$. I have completed 2 videos. He wanted to see my work progress and after showing him the work, he wants me to stop making other videos. His requirements are a lot in quantity I didn't assume that before. He again wants to pay me for making 2 videos, (7$). Is there any solution?  Cancelling the order will create a huge damage on my gig. I am about to get level 1. Please help me. Is there any way to review the custom offer?

@meherunnisa0308 You should have told the client before accepting the order for 15 videos that you would first work on one video included in your basic $5 package. If they were satisfied with it, then you could have asked them to place the order for the remaining 14 videos.

Now, you either need to fully satisfy them according to their requirements or create the shorts based on their expectations to avoid order cancellation.

Note: Never work with buyers who have a low budget but demand a lot. Working with such buyers often leads to a bad experience and poor ratings.

I know, but he was in rush to make the videos. I always made a demo if they like I take the order. But he didn’t give me the requirements before placing order. Is this possible to review the custom offer?

Well, I’ve had a very bad experience with such buyers, which is why I said this. These are the ones who keep asking for discounts repeatedly before placing the order and promise to refer their friends as well. However, as soon as we send them a custom offer, they change their behavior or start making extra demands. (I agree that not all buyers are the same.)

Do you think a partial refund would work? She has only sent drafts for 2 out of the 15 shorts so far.

It says "above" $50. Her order is $50.
And if it works for $50, she can only refund 60%.

If it works for $50 and the buyer agrees to pay 40%, I would have him confirm this on the order page. He should definitely mention that he agrees to the seller delivering 2 videos instead of 15. Only then would I deliver the videos and deliver the order. That would be better than canceling the order.

Absolutely, this could work. @meherunnisa0308 You should do as @filipdevaere suggested; it’s a better approach. However, if you feel that you can convince your buyer through your communication, that would be the best option.

@filipdevaere Yes, I was reading the same article. It means a partial refund might not be possible because the order is worth $50. Well, in this situation, if the OP contacts Customer Support and discusses with them to refund $43 to the buyer and keep only a $7 order active, would Customer Support be able to do this? This way, neither the seller nor the buyer would face a significant loss.

No, partial refunds don't happen like that. I don't think CS can edit the orders.

Before the current levels system, we had this option where if a buyer places a new order within a fortnight of cancellation, then that cancellation will NOT affect the account stats. But I think they removed that rule with the new system.
