Supporting Freelancers Requires Fair Treatment

As a dedicated freelancer on Fiverr, I am sharing this message to raise awareness about an issue I recently encountered. After completing a project with significant effort, delivering multiple revisions, and receiving a 5-star review from my client, I was stunned to find that Fiverr allowed the client to cancel the contract, leaving me without payment.

I expected Fiverr to provide a fair and balanced process, yet my experience shows otherwise. The client not only approved the final work with positive feedback but then, without warning or discussion, proceeded to cancel the order. Fiverr’s team did not reach out to me for clarification on any aspects of the project or consult me on potential additional revisions. This lack of communication, and the ease with which a contract can be canceled after successful completion, sends a concerning message to freelancers.

Freelancers are the foundation of Fiverr’s marketplace. We work tirelessly to maintain high standards, meet deadlines, and support our clients’ needs. If a platform undermines this hard work by allowing unjust cancellations without consulting the freelancer, it risks eroding the trust that holds this community together.

My goal here is not only to seek a resolution for my case but also to shed light on the need for stronger protections for freelancers on Fiverr. Freelancers deserve fair and transparent processes that protect their rights and efforts. If platforms like Fiverr continue to disregard our contributions, many of us will be compelled to seek opportunities on other platforms like LinkedIn or directly with clients.

I urge Fiverr to reevaluate its policies and take a stand for fair treatment of freelancers. My hope is that sharing this story will inspire positive change and encourage Fiverr to listen to its freelance community.
