Here’s another topic for today: the importance of having a good instinct with clients, knowing when to push and when to hold back. What exactly should we be insistent about? There are times when a client is unsure about what to choose or which direction to take. Often, these clients place an order without a clear project in mind, hoping you’ll magically produce the solution they’re looking for! Frequently, the solutions they’re envisioning either exceed the scope of your expertise or fall outside the services you offer in the specific gig.

In situations like these, it’s essential to guide clients toward the best solution for their project. Having good instincts helps you recognize when to press forward and when to step back. Sometimes, the best move is to encourage the client to take some time, get clearer on their needs, and revisit the discussion later. If an order has already been placed, you may need to find the courage to cancel it if it’s evident the client’s lack of direction could lead to dissatisfaction.

Clients can become frustrated if they’re unclear from the start, which is often the root of the issue, not your service. In cases like these, any dissatisfaction is generally due to their own uncertainty, not a failure on your part.

Trusting your instincts can help prevent misunderstandings and ensure that clients walk away satisfied with a solution they genuinely want and need.

This is necessary because if a client doesn't have a clear direction for the project, our outcome won't satisfy them. Therefore, it's the best solution to have the courage to cancel the order and ask the client to take some time or get back to us with more clear details.
