How to Respond to a Client Request to Combine Orders and Delay Payment on Fiverr

Question

Posted

A client wants to take only one order instead of several because he doesn't want to give fees for each order to Fiverr. But he wants to delay to pay completely. What should I tell him?

This is a dangerous situation.
There is always a chance that the buyer will give you multiple assignments (in 1 order) and then, when everything is finished, he will cancel the order. I am not saying that it will end like that, but there is a chance.

I only do something like this with buyers that I know and of whom I am sure that nothing can go wrong. I feel much safer with 1 order for 1 project.

You say here: "But he wants to delay to pay completely". This seems like a red flag to me.

I've only had one order with him before, and he seemed to do well with it. He's a student, so he can't pay the full amount upfront. If I offer a milestone payment option, he could pay in two installments, but it will take him time to make the second payment. There will be a significant gap between the two payments. He doesn't want to take two separate orders because it would mean paying higher platform fees. If he leaves a review, everyone will see that I took a long time to complete such a simple order. Will the extended timeline for completing a low-budget order negatively affect my gig?

I think there is also a fee involved if he pays the second milestone.

I don't think so, but to this day no one is really sure. Since the introduction of the success score, the algorithm takes almost everything into account. I have not seen an official explanation of the influence of extensions anywhere.

But if the client leaves a review, the amount and duration of the order will be shown to everybody.

When I have a lot of work and my schedule is full, I sometimes have to make custom orders that are longer than 90 days (90 is the maximum for a delivery date). I then make an order of 90 days and if this is accepted I immediately request an extension of the delivery period. So I can have orders that are longer than 100 days. I have not had any problems with that yet.

I myself have no problems with the duration of an order being visible in my reviews.
