Question

Posted (edited)

Hello 🙂

A client wants me to purchase something from a website (marketplace)  and then ship it via DHL to his country.

He mentioned he would provide his card details for me to purchase the item.

I apologize for the ignorance, but I'm scared I could get scammed.

Please, i need advices

I'd say you can't do that.

The payment terms at https://www.fiverr.com/legal-portal/legal-terms/payment-terms-of-service say:

Quote

You may not offer Sellers to pay, or make payment using any method other than through the Fiverr.com site. In case you have been asked to use an alternative payment method, please report it immediately to Customer Support here.

So I'd just link to that page and say Fiverr wouldn't allow that.

I know he's wanting you to pay for a product, not your service that way but I wouldn't do that. You could check with customer support if you wanted to be sure or what could be done instead.

I don't think Fiverr would allow the use of the buyer's card (with their confidential card info). It also might not even be their card (eg. could be a stolen one), and if that was the case you could get in trouble legally if you used it.

I checked what he wants me to purchase and it is a second hand Chanel handbag worth $1500

When I read your topic a few hours ago, the first thing I thought was that this is a scam.
I see $1500 now and I think more and more that it is a scam.

I would not be surprised that if you try to pay with his card details that the transaction will not be successful. And then he will ask you to pay with your bank card with the promise that he will place an order to pay that amount back.
