Hello Fiverr Community,

I'm reaching out to gather insights on securing my first legitimate client in the content writing niche. Despite actively maintaining my gigs for almost 10 months, I haven’t yet secured a client. I’ve followed platform guidelines closely, declining requests for off-platform communication and only engaging through Fiverr. However, these precautions have limited my opportunities to start building a credible client base.

In line with Fiverr Support’s recommendations, I am preparing to enhance my gig in several ways, including:

  • Adding video content to showcase my services.
  • Updating gig images to make them more visually appealing and professional.
  • Retaking relevant skill tests to demonstrate my expertise.

However, I’ve noticed that many sellers have successfully secured multiple clients without implementing these changes. Given that, I would greatly appreciate specific guidance on what has proven effective in attracting legitimate clients—especially for content writing.

I’ve attached two of my recent works, a travel blog and a health & wellness blog, as samples of the quality I aim to bring to each project. Are there particular types of video content or images that helped you stand out? Would skill tests impact my visibility significantly? Any other actionable insights to help me make a breakthrough would be incredibly valuable.

I am eager to begin my journey on Fiverr and make a positive impact with my work. Your advice would be instrumental in helping me secure my first client and get my business started on the right foot.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their experience and advice!

Warm regards

Vikram K

I can sense alot of chatGPT usage in your post as well as your gig descriptions. Of course, you have edited and fine-tuned it to suit your needs but it is evident.

Also since 2023, demand for content writing has relatively reduced on Fiverr and there are a lot of well-established and highly skilled sellers on the platform. So it will be very difficult for any new seller to get orders.

I don't think retaking skill tests will demonstrate your expertise to buyers. Have you seen any skill test results on any Fiverr profile in the last few months (other than your own when you're logged in)? As far as I know, none show to other users (eg. buyers). Not even verified skills (eg. the green check mark next to a skill) get shown on public profiles to other users now as far as I know.

How exactly would you know if various sellers' addition of videos or change in gig images affected whether or not their sales increased? Overall, it doesn't seem like you have researched what your competitors are doing and applied it to your profile/gigs in your own, unique way.

We can't see the PDF's you attached to your post here, but adding them to your gig might be a good idea. You currently aren't really showcasing your work at all.

Videos are effective for the services I offer. If you were to add them, I recommend sticking with text as well as music and forgo an AI voice. Despite what Fiverr wants to push, it's off-putting to a lot of people and generally ineffective.

Recently I have noticed multiple sellers using the same reasoning for these tools..

"I wish to use these tools but I'm not sure if they will help but again there are other sellers/my friends who don't use these tools but are immensely successful." 🫠

Its a weird pattern and maybe everyone is guided by same video on YouTube.

I understand how you feel.

I have been on Fiverr since 2021 and I got my first Order 15 days ago (25th of October 2024), mind you, i am competing in a niche (Lifestyle / Traveling) that is not yet saturated.

My key to success was to work on myself and occasionally update my gig (I have retouched my gig about 57 times just this year alone). I share my gigs on my social media page (I have also dedicated my LinkedIn account to replicating my Fiverr identity).

More so, I am working on solidifying my presence off the Fiverr platform (when competing in a saturated niche, a sure way to stand out is to bring your offline clients to patronize you on Fiverr).

Also, I'd suggest you should

  1. work on researching the top 10 talents in your niche (pay attention to sellers that have not been on the platform for long, sellers that are "TRS", or "Fiverr Choice"),
  2. Study the best performing gigs in your category
  3. Read more books to better understand how your buyers think (this is my philosophers stone)
  4. Build your brand off Fiverr

There are more tips and advice on the forum, search for them

Gracias
