Advice Needed: How to Estimate Hours for a Project

Hi,

I'm a web app developer, and have an hourly rate of 10 USD for projects I take on usually.

However, on fixed price projects, how do I make sure I am giving a safe estimate in terms of hours? Currently, I give a days' estimate and try my best to get it done within that time, but would like an hourly estimate as well so that I know how much I am earning in reality.

How can I go about this for medium-scale or large-scale projects?
