Genuinely Want to Understand Podcast/Social Promotion

I am not here to complain, call anyone out, or speak ill of Promoters. I honestly and genuinely want to understand how promotion works, maybe I am misunderstanding something.  

I have used a few promoters to extend my reach for the Podcast, Live Streams, Socials, Website, and YouTube. 

I have mixed feelings about the results and think it's because I don't understand exactly what it means. 

Here are some examples of verbiage used from the seller: 

• All downloads are original and 100% real, safe and organic.
• Increase subscribe and rating.
• 7k-9k downloads in a month for your apple podcast.
• Targeted country & organic audience.
• Huge Popularity And Audiences.
• 100% Safe and Satisfaction.
• Start work very quickly.

I will say that after each promotion I have seen an increase in downloads/views or Subscriptions. 

What I would like to understand is the verbiage of "Organic" "Huge Audience" "Engaged". Does this mean that AI or Bots aren't being used to download/view or sign up? Is this then just a bunch of people refreshing a screen and subscribing? 

I understand that the downloads/views and subs will help increase my reach via those hosting platforms and push my content into more peoples random feeds. 

This isn't clear for new content creators. When we hear Organic, Huge Engaged Audience we think there is more science or actual marketing involved. After these promotions I again see the increase in some numbers, but there are no new Views for the Live Stream and no comments or answers to polls that I have posted. 

Can you help me understand what a Huge Audience is, and what Engaged means?

Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide and maybe advice on what I should be seeing if I want to have more comments, and more interaction with my audience.

Majority of sellers across categories just POPULATE their gigs with keywords, which are commonly used in their vertical and most of them just copy each other's gig descriptions too!!

Its important to check the skill level and knowledge of the seller because its possible that 80% of them cannot even explain what's mentioned in their gig description.

Are there actual promotions that can focus on engaged audience? I would happily accept 50 active and engaged subscribers more than 10k downloads. Are there any tips for vetting potential sellers?
