Hiya! I've only used Fiverr 2 other times outside of this and have had excellent experiences, I actually plan to start using it more frequently. However, I'm currently working with an Artist and suspect that they may be working the system in order to get around delivery times. I'd like to get opinions on my suspicions, know if anyone else has heard of or experienced this and know if it's a common things on the platform or really any insight from others!

I commissioned an Artist to create an enamel pin design on 10/22, they confirmed they received it and that it was in progress the following day. They even said they would send it ASAP but my expectation was always the estimated due date which was 10/27. Their listing indicated 5-Day Delivery, another reason I choose them in the first place. After hearing nothing from them I reached out on 10/25 for a status update, I didn't receive one. However on the due date 10/27, they submitted line art as the delivery and asked if I needed any adjustments. So this is when we get into the technical aspects of how I think they are working the system. By submitting only line art as the delivery, I didn't have a choice but to select "Revision" to keep the commission open and active, given it wasn't the fully completed pin design. Again I've only used this platform a handful of times so please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But by doing this, the Artist now has no due date to meet. There is none that I can find or see on my end outside of the original due date. From my perspective I feel like they've bought themselves whatever time they want, and are not honoring what the listing indicated as far as the 5-Day Delivery nor are they communicating with me very much about the process or delays. Benefit of the doubt, I also have no clue what Fiverr looks like on the Seller side. But I did dig a little deeper and it's my understanding that the way this should have been handled is that they should be sending me an extension request to approve (or decline).

As means to try to resolve the issue with the Artist I sent them the following message:
Hi. So the initial order was placed on Oct. 22nd. I asked for updates prior to delivery and didn’t receive any visuals to review until the due day of the order. My expectation was to receive a completed piece on the due day which was Oct 27th. Instead line art was submitted as a completed piece and I was asked if I need any adjustments. Because this was only line art and not a completed piece I obviously had no choice but to hit the revision button. I’m going to be honest with you, I feel like this was just a way for you to get more time to work on the piece and not honor the 5-day timeframe that is indicated on the listing since this puts the commission into “Revision”. This is starting to feel like false advertisement. So, before I reach out to customer service, I would like to try to resolve this issue with you personally. Even moreso because my original plan was to work with you long term on other projects/orders (and I would still like to). I’m going to ask you to communicate more often, be honest and truthful with me. When do you estimate having this illustration 100% complete?

Has anyone else had this happen, or does anyone have any insight on the matter? Thanks in advance!

That's normal, a lot of people don't share updates and they just deliver the content on the due date or a bit earlier, if they can.

Well, it seems they didn't deliver yet, nor did they provide an update since you asked for a revision? In that case, that message is perfectly fine, I mean you're doing them a favor, because they should reply to your message and you could go directly to customer support without even telling them.

From what I understand here, this is an incomplete delivery and that is a violation of the TOS (chapter 6.2).

This is super helpful, thanks so much for citing the TOS and sharing (may later be referencing this to the Seller since it's literally platform policy)! I completely agree, given that I've already sent them the message I'm thinking about giving them 2-3 days to respond and if they don't then I may just cancel the order. I just don't think it's fair to work the system like this. Had they been transparent about any time constraint, we likely could have worked something out together. But again thank you for the assistance!
