Hi @domenikbrenner - my portfolio was the only reason I was able to get buyers when I had zero orders and no reviews. So for me, it was what gave me credibility when I didn't really have credibility on the platform. I still get a lot of buyers who will specifically mention my portfolio samples in either the gallery or in the My Portfolio section of my profile. I still plan on adding more Portfolio samples, especially on technical writing since requests for technical writing is on the rise.

Note: I estimate about 75% of my orders come from those who look at my portfolio samples.

Hi,
Does adding portfolio via my portfolio option help in gig ranking?

Hi @dollee, Adding work samples to your My Portfolio feature section does not help gig ranking, but it can increase your credibility with buyers when they visit your gig. Think of it as your business card (or storefront) for buyers that will give them their first impression of you. From there, buyers will determine if you are professional, trustworthy, and the seller that they want to work with. Buyers can tell if you put effort into your portfolio samples. Also, the more you can show through your portfolio, the better chances you have of a buyer seeing something that they want for themselves. When I first started, I didn't have the My Portfolio option, so I used my gig gallery to its fullest potential to show off my skills (especially the 2 PDFs that I could add). This helped me to get my first orders when I had no buyers and no reviews on my profile.

After I started getting orders, the My Portfolio feature helped me justify price increases - I revamped and rebranded all of My Portfolio projects whenever I raised my prices (from $15, to $50, to $100, and more). Since my portfolio (and gig images) looked more professional, none of the new buyers questioned my price increases.

Thank you so much for such a detailed answer with logical reasoning and future guidelines.
