And I keep detecting sellers from Bangladesh and Pakistan who "allegedly" speak Dutch.

@farjanaislam542 What is the reason why you claim to speak Dutch? Can I test your knowledge of Dutch? Or can we already assume that this is a blatant lie?

Hallo koper, ik ben goeie nederlands.

jokes aside, what's up with the trend of speaking Dutch over there 😂 I see it more and more. English I understand, but Dutch?

More and more of them are popping up. And I'm not talking about a few per week.

For now, I only see 2 explanations:
1) One or more YouTubers advise using Dutch as a language skill.
2) People see on the forum that a Dutch-speaking seller gets a lot of orders from buyers from the Netherlands.

It's very strange. I look at the Fiverr profile of many new sellers on the forum. Almost every day I detect at least 1 who claims to speak Dutch. In 2023 this was certainly not the case.

According to ChatGPT (see the screenshot below) there are only about 24 million people who speak Dutch. And of those, only a very small part will approach Fiverr as a buyer. I think a few thousand buyers, so not large numbers.

It is practically impossible to learn a language like Dutch in Pakistan or Bangladesh.

I would like to rise above this D/ P/B thing you are referring to. I would rather say that learning any language with the same fluency and command as the natives have, I mean, it’s practically impossible without being around them, listening to them, speaking to them, directly.
It’s difficult to match the natural ease they have been picking up since they were babies.
However, there are some brave people in the world to take any challenge, whatever 😜😂

I think I might possibily be the only freelancer on Fiverr that speaks Welsh 😀

I've been looking forward to catching someone out for years, but I don't think anyone is stupid enough to try that when you look at the name of one of our train stations. 😀

Almost probably. There's a seller in the proofreading/CV writing subcategory that does:

welsh-speaking-seller.jpg.5d059e95cd02f5ea624e6c1b79c2a529.jpg

Though on Fiverr's search option for gigs in those subcategories, clicking on "seller details" and looking in the "speaks" section it doesn't even show Welsh as an option to search by even though that seller has that language in his profile, and it lists another language with just 1 gig with that language.

And as we giggle around this topic, there are dozens of smart sellers😎 who are taking notes and rushing to edit the "language fluency" section of their profiles to ADD WELSH as their new found linguistic love.

I am very sorry to think that even in the modern age you are questioning the knowledge of any country's language or information. Where nowadays the whole world is considered as global village. Online, in the age of the Internet, people are gathering information about languages and cultures of other countries within minutes from the comfort of their homes. Are there questions about knowing the Dutch language?

I introduced myself in Dutch: Ik ben Mahmuda. Een meisje uit een dorp in Bangladesh. Ik werk als nieuwe verkoper van digitale marketing in glasvezel. Ik hoop dat je mij wilt steunen op deze reis.

Help move forward without discouraging anyone.

If you use translation software, you will get the wrong result as shown in the red text. You have proven me right. The language skills that you indicate in your Fiverr profile are completely made up. You are deceiving innocent buyers.

This is not the way someone would form their sentences in Dutch

Fiber used instead of Fiverr and then translated with software. The seller also claims to be Fluent in English.

That Fiverr profile has several red flags.
1) The "About Me" section is indeed copied from somewhere and doesn't even mention the seller.
2) Multiple languages are listed and the seller hopes translation software will fix it. English is listed as "Fluent" like most new sellers.
3) Skills are listed that are just to attract buyers. For example, I see logo designer, Canva designer, and YouTube thumbnail designer. What does this have to do with the seller's 3 gigs?

There's a lot wrong with that profile. What could be wrong with those 3 gigs? Only time will tell. I expect we'll see the standard questions pop up on the forum very soon:
- How do I get my first order?
- Why are my impressions dropping?
- Why am I not getting clicks?
- Why am I not ranking?
- And so on...

Neither I believe.
There is some out-dated "Fiver tips and tricks" tutor online, probably in Urdu, suggesting people do that.
Something like: "Add languages as much as you can. People can relate easier when they see you can talk in their language and when they contact you, use Google translate to reply."

I've seen people from these countries on forums, always complaining about unstable electricity and equipment. I mean, These reasons, add up doubts about even learning online...

Can typical Welsh people pronounce it?
I mean, it is a train station, but do you pronounce it everytime? Or abbreviate it somehow or ... I mean... I'm crazy!

It's a right of passage for every Welsh person to be able to say it. 😀   It is shortened to Llanfairpg.  But on principle, most people from Wales will attempt to pronounce it at least once to show thier patronage 😀

It's completely useless, but we love it!  ❤️
