Can I offer website building services under the Website Maintenance category on Fiverr to attract my first orders with lower pricing?

Question

Hello everyone! I am new to Fiverr and eager to start offering website building services. I want to keep my prices affordable initially to attract my first clients but I noticed that many new sellers face challenges gaining visibility in the Website Development category.

Would it be acceptable to list my gig under the Website Maintenance category instead? My goal is to make it easier for clients seeking affordable website updates to find my services, while I also offer complete website building options. Do you think this strategy would work well, or would it be confusing for potential buyers?

It'd be confusing - but it'd also be gaming the system.

Websites aren't supposed to be THAT cheap. If Fiverr has set a minimum price for them, there is a reason why.

Offering it in the wrong category could be seen as going against the TOS to mislead (the system, in this case).

In addition to @katakatica's response:

Fiverr can automatically change your sub-category without any prior warning or notification.

In my early days, my gig was set in the "3D Modeling and Rendering" sub-category but it was automatically changed to "Props and objects". I still feel that the previous category was more relevant for me but since the order flow didn’t decrease, I didn’t pay much attention to it. To this day, I am still using the sub-category Fiverr changed for me.

So, even if you set your gigs in a different sub-category (to game the system):- I see this going two ways: either your gig gets removed (for being misleading -- though the chances are extremely low) -- or your sub-category gets automatically changed after a few days or weeks.
