Duped: My Experience with a Fiverr Seller

Question

Posted

I needed a 3D modeling job, and almost a week ago, I contacted a seller who had some spectacular reference images (which, of course, turned out to be fake, something I would discover later). The seller sent me two personalized offers to do the work (one met the deadline, but they never sent anything). I paid a large sum of money for them to complete my project, being very specific and detailed about everything I wanted, providing several reference images with all the measurements specified.

Just two days before the deadline for the final work, I received an update. Anyone who sees what they sent would think it was made by a three-year-old; it is simply something bizarre that doesn’t resemble even a tiny fraction of the images shown in their profile. I immediately realized the deception because it's more than obvious, and anyone would have noticed (I have the images as proof), so I decided to cancel the order.

I canceled the order, and the seller refuses to accept the cancellation. Throughout the process, I maintained genuine and polite communication. Even after realizing the scam, I continued to speak kindly because it was such an absurd situation that I decided to take it with "philosophy." However, the seller does not accept the cancellation after I clearly explained the reasons and asked three times.

They refuse to accept it because they say it will damage their profile and kindly ask me not to cancel. Sir, please don’t scam me! I assure you that I paid a large sum of money, and the work does not resemble the clear and detailed image I sent as a reference at all.

My question is: if the seller does not accept the cancellation of the order, does that mean I won’t get my money back? I have contacted Fiverr support, explaining the situation and sending the image as proof. Nothing is more tedious than having a problem on any platform and waiting an indefinite and uncertain amount of time for someone who doesn’t care about you or your money to give you a solution.

Hi there,

Sorry you had to deal with this mess! Since you've already contacted Fiverr support and sent proof, you should be good.

Support can take a while and probably will contact the seller to make revisions for you too, but i guess if the seller wants to scam you, probably will keep stalling... i would just keep following up with the support and hang in there, you will get this resolved for sure and get your money back... Good luck
