In case this is the first you have heard of them, or need a reminder: What are Promoted Gigs?
Promoted Gigs allow you to bid for ad space in prime locations on Fiverr. This includes spaces in search results and buyers’ inboxes. The ads operate on a cost-per-click (CPC) model, meaning you’re only charged when a buyer clicks on your ad. You can control your daily spending cap but setting a higher budget doesn’t guarantee more ad placements. Winning ad space depends heavily on performance and where our smart technology believes your gig will be a good fit and perform the best.

To get the best results, we recommend turning on Promoted Gigs on gigs that are already performing well. A strong gig with good reviews and a solid track record will likely continue to attract more buyers when promoted. Alternatively, if you have a newer gig that is just starting, you can always try promoting it to give it an initial boost in visibility and see if it takes off.

What changed?
If you’ve been using the Promoted Gigs feature, you may have already noticed a recent change in performance. This is likely because though Promoted Gigs used to be an exclusive feature, available only to a select group of sellers but we have recently expanded the criteria so that any leveled seller is eligible to promote their services. This means that any Level 1, Level 2, Top Rated Seller, or PRO can take advantage of this feature, whether or not they are a Seller Plus member.

This expanded eligibility, now means increased competition since more sellers are vying for the same ad space. As a result, you may have noticed fewer impressions and clicks on your ads. That said, there are still many benefits of using this feature in order to get your gig in front of more buyers and we encourage you to it out for a boost in visibility.

For more information on the feature, check out the Help Center article here

Yeah, we noticed. Now the effectiveness of promoted gigs is way worse than it was before. A long time ago, it was an amazing "money-printing machine."

When you are promoting a gig do they look in your area first or do they seek by preference of the gig you are offering

Promoted Gigs never factor in location. It is usually based on what will be relevant to the buyer based on what services they have searched for or they are likely to be interested in.

Do most top rated sellers use Promoted Gigs?

A lot of Top Rated Sellers use the feature, while some do not.

Wouldn't they be better if they could though, so sellers could promote to the countries that might be best for their gigs or countries in similar timezones to them?

I think this is a very good feature, but I believe it should also be optional because some sellers do want international business.

By making it possible for sellers to turn something like a "location-based" feature on or off, those who want to search location-based are able to, and those who don't are not forced to.

On this simple structure, more can be built out. For example,

  • before someone from Bangladesh or Germany wants to advertise internationally, they should have a language score of at least X/10. This ensures that gigs being advertised show people who are able to communicate properly with the international market on Fiverr.
  • Also, promote the fact that regional advertising has many more benefits than an international market. Not as a lie, but because I think regional search is better, less competitive, better in terms of communication with the customer, and a higher chance of the order being approved and successful.

These ideas are just what came to my mind currently and might contain some weak spots, but then again, I've only been thinking about this for 5 minutes. 😂

Yes, I know. I used to get brief before, but I haven't for the last four to five months. What should I do?

Not getting briefs could be due to several reasons, but there isn't anything you need to do on your end to start recieving them. Our system selects briefs that align with your expertise, focusing on Gigs with a success score of 7 or higher.

Our team is currently reviewing the Promoted Gigs feature and will be releasing updates to it soon. I will pass on this feedback for their consideration. Thanks!

Well everyone would just target the US clients ....

Not necessarily. US buyers are likely usually great buyers (and on my analytics page it shows US as the country with the highest number of orders that I sold to), but if the seller lives on the opposite side of the world, and every time someone sends a message (which might include attachments) or requests a sample or change to one they're really late at night on the seller's side, that's not necessarily going to be good for the seller's health or for the communication between the seller and the buyer, or for the order going as well as it could have. In that case it might help for the seller to also promote more to potential buyers closer to the seller's timezone, but that's not an option currently.

The timezone might not matter depending on the gig/subcategory but for some, where communication etc. is more important it probably does.

I agree. My point was, most people will target US clients because they are the ones that tend to purchase more. I mean, in my case, over half of my orders were from the US or Canada, mostly the US. So if we were to target a country/location, I know most people would go for the US.

So the more competition that means the higher a seller's CPC will go up (assuming they're not already maxed out). It also means like you yourself pointed out that you'll get less views, clicks, etc for that now increased cost. I'm pretty sure this is textbook enshittification and a much worse deal for sellers. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something?

If I remember reading it right This was one of the ways Fiverr was continuing to make a profit despite having a smaller number of buyers and completed orders. They're were increasing the overall cost to be a seller and operate in the Fiverr marketplace.

I think my impressions are .... 10% of what they were but I think that has a lot to do with me losing all of my levels and being level 0 for awhile. Looking at what I've done this year so far is less than what I use to see in a month.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide tailored solutions for you since the solutions would be specific to your account. For specialized assistance on growing your account, I would recommend reaching out to CS to inquire about the Seller Plus Program or Kickstart if you are a new user. Participation in these program will give you access to a dedicated CSM that can help you with your specific goals.

CPC is going to go through the roof! Also does it push Top rated, pro seller more? Or just everyone have to fight with their highest set budget? Does popular gig pushed more when using promoted gig feature?
