Category flooded with nearly identical gigs

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I’m reaching out to get some advice/ see if anyone is more in the know than me.

In the last couple of weeks, I’ve seen dozens of nearly identical looking gigs pop up (and gain traction) in my area of Business Naming & Slogans. Title, pricing, cover photos (though the individuals headshot is different of course) and gig descriptions are almost exactly the same across them all.

Many mention services they don’t offer, ie: specifically website design. I notice some reviews even mention how their website design is great.. though it is not offered in the gig, as an add on or under a separate gig on the page.

Any idea where this is coming from? Is it the Fiverr Kickstarter program? Of course, could be natural but given the similarity and timing, it feels odd.

I’m Pro and TRS and my orders have plummeted. Lowered my prices and running a sale.

Cheers & thanks for any insights y’all may have.

I have noticed a few similar gigs too, where reviews talk about a different category altogether.

I believe meksells have been changing the category and service offerings of their existing gigs to migrate to lesser competitive/high demand categories. Also saw a few of them advising each other on the forum to do this.

@ana_tomy @Kesha Is it possible for the backend team to block the option to change the vertical and service offering of a published gig?? May be make it permanent like gig URL.

What does the URL of those gigs say? Is it a different category from their current offering?

So the "Business Naming & Slogans" section of Fiverr is quite small and Niche. It's also a service that you can google search and find tons of free generators that work quite well. I went and looked on the front page for the service and it looked like most people either didn't have an order or only had 1-2 orders so I don't think it's just you. It might be that there just isn't a high demand for this currently.

I do logo design and when I look on the front page of my service it's weird as well where only 3-4 sellers have hundreds of orders in que but all the rest on the front page only have a few. I've long thought Fiverr was funneling orders if not directly than at least indirectly through suggestion but I don't know what's actually happening. I will say that the 3-4 sellers with hundreds of orders aren't bad designers but their certainly not the best and most have a lot of recent bad reviews but they seem to be immune to it's effect due to their volume or special treatment.

Took me a while to locate one such gig, this is 3-in-1 marvel !! 🫠

Check this: https://www.fiverr.com/alina_zeb/convert-jpg-to-vector-within-2-hours

  1. URL: Jpeg to vector
  2. Gig Gallery and title: PowerPoint Presentations
  3. Reviews: UI UX for websites and mobile apps!!

Most recent review is from 2 years ago, the gig description starts with "I" but later it's "we", 3 gigs in total and none of the URLs match the service offered...

Marvellous indeed. And trustworthy. Not.
