Hello folks,

I've worked with a few amazing singers on Fiverr in the past, and a couple of days ago I returned to record some vocals, but this time I wanted to try a lower price category. I begun discussing with nearly 30 singers I started running some test with a few of them to check the sound quality of their recordings while also hearing which of the voices would match the song..

I was astounded by the results that they sent me.. In stead of sending me their 10 seconds vocal samples, they all sent me full songs that had nothing to do with it, saying that it was based on my description. Their answers also seemed overly AI-generated and unatural.

Anyone else got such experiences ? I am glad I run some free tests before actually paying for anything. These were all from a low price category without previous experiences. I should have presumed so, but I couldn't have imagined such an infestation of scam accounts.

Oh my God. Yes! I thought I was going crazy 🤣 I work as a ghostwriter primarily for hip hop. Last week my boy created his first EDM/DRUM AND BASS beat and I thought it would be a fun surprise to rap on it and also get a singer on the hook. I rapped my verses and wrote a hook that I wanted sung by a singer.  The hook is only 4 lines so I decided to look at the newer singers on the site. I found a singer on Fiverr - sent her the beat, the lyrics and the audio reference. What I got back sounded like it was AI generated audio and it wasn't even on the original beat I had sent. I tried out a second singer - same thing. I guess I will have to wait till payday and order from one of the more established sellers I have worked with in the past.

It unfortunately seems that the newest sellers category is inundated by the musicians using AI generators, both for conversations and music generation.

Warning signs:

-Has no real profile picture, in stead, some photoshop illustration of a singer, with more or less effects

-Has no review, or few review (if few reviews, it is important to check them)

-The seller has presentation music with some distorted voices that can be more or less easily be recognised as AI generated. It took me a day to grasp and failiarize myself with the ai sound, but I admit that the first dozen profile musics got me fooled

-The seller calls you "great buyer" like "Hi great buyer". This is so weird, I had several of them (or one, if it has multiple accounts)

-The seller is unaturally enthusiastic and paraphrases what you say in a robotic way (like "recording vocals over an instrumental sounds like a fun and creative idea")

-The seller is impatient and keeps writing to you: "hello" "are you there" "what is your budget" "i haven't heard from you" etc is common. It felt like being on a dating up with extremely needy people

-If you ask a technical question, like what material do you use etc, they can reply unbelievable nonesense, or full ai generated texts out of context

what is your budget

It's interesting that the music category has been captured by pseudo musicians. It's unfortunate that you are dealing with this but, to be fair, budget is a very important consideration--especially when someone's asking for free custom samples (work). If sellers are declining your request for custom samples while you aren't revealing what you'll pay them, then I think that increases the chances that they are not scammers.

Free short sample is a mid-discussion thing often proposed by sellers and at other times by me, it's quite common as it increases the chances of a gig being validated.

What I meant with the "what is your budget" is that it is something they will repeat even after being discussed, like the "hey r u there"

Yep. Unfortunately, some sellers on Fiverr are using AI and delivering that instead of doing the real work, it’s very disappointing. I have slowed down using this site because sellers from edm category are cheating and send AI generated music. *Honestly they should put warning on their profile to let buyers know they use AI, versus us wasting our time. But they won’t because they want your money $$$.

There are a lot of AI vocal scammers on Fiver, You can tell pretty quickly by either the poor quality or the pricing.

They should be reported and removed (That goes for any AI generated content)

Can Fiverr please remove all these fake AI Artist profiles? I wanted to hire a real vocalist recently and so many of the artists I clicked on were obviously fake with the noticeable AI vocal sound. This is detrimental to both buyers, sellers and Fiverr's integrity!

Or at least make some way of making sure that the service is listed under "AI" and not competing with real artists.
