Seller asking for payment on a link

amazongraham

Question

Hello Fiverr,

I am not new to Fiverr but have hardly used the platform since joining over a year ago.

I have recently engaged a freelancer to purchase his services. He is suggesting I have 2 ways to pay, one via Fiverr and then another with a part-payment on Fiverr and the rest on an external link. The external link / part-pay option being a cheaper alternative. He's pointed out that I'd be "saving 20% fiverr tax".

He's also using phrases like "P-ay" instead of "Pay", which I guess is to avoid any kind of Fiverr monitoring.

All feels a bit suspicious.   The guy has a ton of reviews (100+) and the service looks good on the description.

What do you think?

Hello @amazongraham

It all sounds very odd. A Seller with over 100 reviews, should know better than to offer/ask for external ways of payment. Please do not engage in any suspicious activity and please do not go against our Guidelines. You are risking account suspension. My advice would be to talk to our Customer Support. Rest assured that they will thoroughly check everything and find the best possible solution for you.

Thank you.

Hi amazongraham,

It’s a red flag when a seller suggests paying outside Fiverr, especially via an external link. This goes against Fiverr’s Terms of Service, and you risk losing protection if things go wrong. The mention of “saving 20% Fiverr tax” and using altered words like “P-ay” indicates an attempt to bypass Fiverr’s rules, which could lead to the seller getting banned, and you potentially losing your money. Stick to Fiverr’s platform for safety. You can report such behavior via the "Report" button on their profile or reach out to Fiverr’s support team for advice.

Avoid the risk!
