Suggestion: Fiverr could write or do something about the lower resolution/bitrate video previews

Recommended Posts

When a video attachment is made in the inbox, if a user (buyer/seller) plays the preview back of it that preview is shown in lower quality (it can be lower resolution and lower bitrate) than the actual attached file. I assume it always re-compresses it for the preview.

eg. a video file that a buyer uploads to the inbox that's 1920x1080 that's about 6,183 kb/s gets converted to a preview that's 1280x720 5,500 kb/s

If a buyer or seller had uploaded a much higher bitrate file at 1920x1080 or higher, the Fiverr preview would also have reduced it to that 1280x720 resolution with a similar quite low bitrate. Fiverr previews might also limit other things like frame rate.

Even after explaining to the buyer that their source files that they attached haven't been changed by Fiverr (they can still be downloaded by clicking in the icon on the lower left or by clicking on "download all"), they still can be confused about whether their attachments have been reduced in quality due to Fiverr lowering the resolution/bitrate/re-compressing them to show as previews, and they can they ask the seller to download the same source files from something like WeTransfer, even though they're identical to the ones they sent through the inbox (which is a bit of a waste of time for the buyer and seller).

What Fiverr could do

1) Fiverr could increase the resolution and bitrate of the files that can be shown in the Fiverr video preview to at least 1920x1080, with an increase in bitrate for the preview version. That way even if there was slight re-compression, the buyer would be less likely to get confused about whether Fiverr is affecting the quality of their attachments. But ideally it could be played back in the original source video quality without any re-compression (at least for some video types/resolutions/bitrates).

And/or

2) Fiverr could write a note on screen under the video preview saying if it's been re-compressed and lowered in image size (eg. from 1080p to 720p) and bitrate and that the original attached files are unaffected and can still be downloaded using the links under them on the inbox (or order page) or using the "download option". Doing this would prevent the seller from having to explain everything about this to the buyer and should help prevent them deciding to upload their source files again using WeTransfer/dropbox when it's not necessary.
