Question

I am new to Fiverr and am offering recorded vocals for $15 per 30s. I have had a buyer ask for an offer for 2 minutes of vocals, so I quoted $60, with my thoughts being if it's $15 per 30 seconds, then $15 x 4 = $60. The buyer then argued that he only had $30 and my price was too high and that the first 30 seconds should only be $15 and likened it to working for an hour where he said if I work for 1 hour at $15 with preparation etc, it's not going to take me 4 hours to do the rest, so I should adjust my price.

I changed my offer to the amount he had and he was happy with the work and gave a tip. He now wants a second track done and is asking for an offer. I am not sure what to offer and would like to understand pricing a little better and what is fair, but don't want to undersell myself. He was my first order and I'm wanting to get some traction, so I can complete more orders and more buyers are attracted to my services.

Thank you!

Hi Soul_Sing,

It's great to hear about your first order experience! Pricing can indeed be tricky when starting out on Fiverr. Here are a few considerations to help you:

  1. Custom Offers: When quoting for a second track, consider the complexity and time required. You might want to calculate based on the number of vocal tracks, length, and any additional services (like revisions or mixing).
  2. Fair Pricing: Ensure your pricing reflects the value of your work and covers your time, effort, and expertise. It's okay to adjust based on client needs but avoid underselling yourself.
  3. Communication: Clearly outline what's included in your offer (e.g., number of tracks, revisions) to manage expectations upfront. For the second track, you could break down the cost based on your initial rate and adjust if needed. This approach helps maintain fairness while valuing your skills. Best of luck with your orders, and I hope you gain more traction on Fiverr!

I really do understand your pov regarding underselling your services,

but for a seller a returning customers / buyers are always a blessing, so proper communication is really very important here.

Here most effective reply would be -

hello {buyer name},

i am glad you requested my services, as a followup to our previous order. I was really joyful as my previous delivery was beneficial to you & exceeded your expectations🙌

For this recent upcoming offer, i will be glad to provide you the similar custom offer as like before and for the next upcoming orders i will be charging [X amount] for [X amount of minutes]. This pricing reflects the quality and effort I put into each task.

- this might be the most efficient way to express your thoughts here.
