I recently advised my boss to outsource our requirement for draftsmen to do the design works for fit-out projects. My first recommendation was Fiverr, and after spending 2 days we picked 1 seller whos profile made it seem like he was an expert in MEP. We spoke to him and he agreed to take on both the Architectural and MEP, as he insisted that his friend is an expert in Architectural design drawings.
We made the offer and he accepted it and he was supposed to deliver the work in 4 days. After 9 miserable days of back and forth reviews and arguments and discussions, Fiverr closed the project on their own, and the seller till now hasn't submitted the work and is asking for extra money because Fiverr decided to close the project, and released his money to him.
I made a terrible mistake by saying that I will give him a bonus of 65$ if he send the final drawings correctly and ready for proper submission, and I only used the word 'BONUS'. Suddenly, the buyer decided to ask for 148$, and said that he will keep the files with him until I make the payment. Please see attached whatsapp message with the buyer (numbers 1 to 9). I insisted that I will not pay him a single extra dollar, and since then he isn't responding to my whatsapps.
Please understand that this is not a school or university project, this is an actual live project that had to be submitted on time and be delivered as per the international standard of design drawings.
I can easily say that this seller has zero experience in projects, and does not even understand how a title-block in drawing sheet has to be. This is definitely the last time we use fiverr, but for me to understand, how do you just close a project before making sure that the submission is made properly. This is absurd and absolutely destructive for any buyers thinking of using Fiverr to do real work for real live projects.
The seller's account is @ and he is from pakistan, and works a day job which is why it is really hard for him to focus on buyers' work.
I hope Fiverr does something about this serious issue, because I believe this should not be acceptable under any circumstance. This is a freelancer's app not for sellers with day jobs.
