I had received this image message less than an hour ago with nothing else attached to it. I am pretty new to Fiverr so I am unsure as to whether or not this is real. 65100170-confirm.jpg?__cld_token__=exp=1719427670~hmac=67cf0f7b8344095aa1fedf3df94f7a64f85ab4640be06d5bc310e51aa8185d31

If it's in a Fiverr inbox message asking you to scan a QR code it's a scam. Don't do what they say. The real Fiverr don't send links to your Fiverr inbox asking you to scan QR codes.

It seems like that QR code goes to a link within a fake Fiverr scam site called "www-fiverr.eu" (not www.) which isn't the real Fiverr. Fiverr should report that fake site.

Fiverr Scam Alert: Protect Your Cards, Don't Get Hooked!

Hey everyone, I'm writing this to warn you all about a scam I just encountered on Fiverr. It's a sneaky one, so I wanted to share my experience to help others avoid falling victim to it.

Here's what happened:

  1. I created a new seller gig on Fiverr.
  2. Shortly after, I received a message that looked like it was from Fiverr support (but it wasn't!).inboxmessage.png.bc64e782715f8b638806ed33e1a4e712.png

  3. The message said my account verification was incomplete and needed fixing to accept orders.
  4. It included an image with a QR code to scan and a link to follow (this is the image you attached).

  1. messageimage.jpg.f53edda72e14d276ea93ddab6544eecf.jpg
  2. I scanned the QR code, which opened a website that looked like Fiverr (but the address was a big giveaway - https://fiverr.order-identification.com/card/245305xxx)
  3. The fake website asked for my card details to complete verification.

Red Flags That Saved Me:

  • Suspicious Link: The link wasn't a real Fiverr URL. Fiverr uses fiverr.com in their official links.
  • Card Details Request: Fiverr doesn't ask for card details through chat windows or verification processes.
  • Luckily, I got a message from my bank: Right after entering my card details, I got a notification about a suspicious transaction of ₹49746.29 and my card got blocked (phew!). This confirmed the scam.

What to Do If You Encounter This Scam:

  • Do Not Enter Your Card Details: This is the most crucial step. Never share your card information on unverified websites.
  • Report the Scam to Fiverr: Forward the fake message you received to Fiverr support so they can investigate.
  • Contact Your Bank: Inform your bank about the attempted fraudulent transaction and follow their instructions to secure your account.
  • Change Your Fiverr Password: It's always a good practice to change your password after a security scare.

Stay Safe on Fiverr:

  • Be Wary of Unsolicited Messages: Fiverr communicates through their platform, not random emails or chats.
  • Double-Check Link Addresses: Always verify the URL before clicking on any link claiming to be from Fiverr.
  • Never Share Card Details in Chats: Fiverr's verification process doesn't involve credit card information.

By sharing this experience, I hope we can raise awareness and prevent others from falling for this scam. Let's keep our Fiverr community safe!

If anyone else has encountered similar scams, please share your experience in the comments below. Together, we can stay informed and protect ourselves.

I a few hours ago received a message from someone asking me to verify my payment method in order to get my order processed. I knew it was a scam and reported this to Fiverr immediately! That person is now no longer available on Fiverr.

However, I just checked their ID and they worked with eleven sellers and all of them have given them 5* reviews highlighting how nice and friendly they were.

Does it mean it was a legit buyer whose ID was being compromised or now legitimate buyers as well started such scams?

Recently, there's been a wave of complaints from people, whose accounts were somehow hacked.

Someone uses their accounts to send spam.

Well, that's sad, and dangerous. Due to being hacked, we may notice several buyers, and sellers get banned.

In addition, Fiverr is doing nothing to stop this kind of scam before it happens.

We all should be very conscious at this time. Nowadays these kind of problems arising in our platform. If we met with these kind of problems, the fiverr forum is a great platform to solve it through discussions.

If the responsible are unable to manage the site properly, they should resign, no shame in it. I was warmly welcomed to (world of scams/fiver) 2 days ago.

same happened to me today,

someone send a message claiming they are from Fiverr support, containing image with QR code,

and link to a website exactly like Fiverr,  but with different domain name,

they asked me to verify my credit card in 24 hours otherwise my account will be banned,

the page was exactly like Fiverr seller page and even with online support which answer your questions!

when i asked why they didn't use an official account, the support person just gone silent,

credit card information fishing websites are popping everywhere,

be careful!

Don't believe anything unless it's from official accounts, (either notifications, or email with correct domain name)

Even with official accounts, check it with support again before you enter any personal information!

Pay attention if you receive such messages, they will ask you to scan some QR code ( I made it unusable in the picture ) and they'll try to steal your account.  This looks new, never saw this type of hacking attempt until now on Fiverr.

Apparently, you can get scammed even if you thought you were a tech guy. This is really embarrassing to say but I just got scammed on my very first day on fiverr.

The account name was "fiverr support" and  they said my account was suspended. They asked me to do some verification by entering credit card info and you know what I did, but for my defense I thought that, it was for buying account verification and I was new to this platform.( I do want to add some screenshots but fiverr is surprisingly fast at deleting 'reported messages')

Honestly, to prevent this kind of spam, just restrict the profile name, like ban profiles that has "fiverr" or "fiverr support" in their profile names so in future people won't mistake this bots with real support.
