Don't get too excited, now. As a part of my mission to write my exciting new buyer guide, I frequently have to refer to the help center. Anyway, over the weekend, they fiddled about with the feedback page and they have changed the emoji face reviews. The checkboxes are gone:

https://help.fiverr.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049982353-Reviews-and-ratings

I don't know if this means that the checkboxes are gone or if this was just cleaned up. Of course, I have screenshots of the old images, which I shall attach to this post. Because I wanted my book to look pretty. Now I don't know which screenshots to include! Can someone go and buy something (I'm cheap) and report back?

I like to think that I inspired this change by whining about value for money still being present in the help center. Sadly, I only made more work for myself. I am a fool. 😞

I will still complain though. My British genes mean I have to.

I'm glad someone has energy left to complain. The new Fiverr feels like a dictatorship; I wouldn't be surprised if they start banning the opposition outright.

It's not that I'm not happy or unhappy about the updates. I understand that things take time and trial and error, but the cocky way they've been handling the platform for the past year is 🤮

The emoji based rating have been on for a while now, guessing at least a few weeks.

Yes, the emoji rating was introduced on Valentine's Day. Last week, I made a post pointing out that the help center page had not been updated to reflect that value for money had been changed to value of incompetent platform governance, sorry, delivery. Over the weekend, they changed the images. You can see the new images on the link, and the old images on this post. I am pointing out that this may mean that Fiverr has changed the system again without telling anyone. Or maybe they just updated the thing and didn't include the checkboxes for whatever reason.

You mean, while everyone is freaking out about SP?

I think the email went out as I was thoughtfully collecting images. Beautiful timing, really. If this post wasn't going to get people's outrage juices going again, the SP thing definitely would. Fiverr is a gift that keeps on giving 🙂

Fiverr knows eventually people get tired of complaining and accept their latest nonsense. They also know that they can magically replace us with other fresh meat or AI. At the end of the day, we're little more than numbers on an accountant's spreadsheet. I wouldn't call it a dictatorship since we are free to leave.

At the end of the day, the only people Fiverr cares about or listens to these days are the institutional investors that want every last bit of blood squeezed out of the stone. And there are plenty of pebbles on the global beach. Or something.

...What! Can someone please tell me if these stupid emojis are back again? A week ago (March 21, to be precise), when I left reviews for a seller, it was showing me stars instead of emojis. I thought that Fiverr started listening to sellers and changed emojis to stars. This is how things were:

(I don't have an exact screenshot from that time, so I've edited it in Photoshop just to give an idea of how stars were appearing on my end.)

Oh, interesting.

Why did Fiverr even bother having a transitional period full of transparency if, when it moved to the "new system" it just went back to the old system without telling anyone as part of a test?

I think I'm going to have to add something to my ebook about Fiverr's confusing, ever-changing rating system that is designed to keep everyone on their toes and tell buyers that their best bet is to contact Customer Support and ask for guidance on how to leave a review. Clog up the apparatus with its own badly designed mechinations!

I am placing another order today with a seller, so I will probably be back tomorrow with some updates on whether it will show me stars or emojis this time. I am hoping for the stars, but who knows about Fiverr's transparency better than us. Let's see what Fiverr has cooked up in this last week.

Please take screenshots and experiment with different things before doing the final review!

If you want to, of course.

Of course, I'd love to! We're a community and I am TRANSPARENT about sharing things.

So, there are still stars (and not emojis) on the desktop version, but on mobile, emojis are still present. Also, the additional checkboxes have not been removed yet and they are still there on both desktop and mobile devices. These are the three questions Fiverr is currently asking:

1. Based on your expectations, how would you rate the quality of this delivery?
2. How was it working with <buyer>?
3. Finally, how would you rate the value of this delivery?

I have also attached a screen recording of the review system on both desktop and mobile device, side-by-side:-

Dear everyone, I have finished my ebook (I've gone with the emojis and a disclaimer that they're uh, inconsistent at the moment). I've also decided that I'm going to distribute this free of charge here on the forum. Not just yet, since I've emailed CS to see if this is OK per Fiverr's TOS.

I'll make a new post about it whenever. But basically, it's a 20-odd page ebook with okay design from the world's most horrible ebook designing tool that explains like, the basic stuff buyers should know about Fiverr. It's written fairly plainly and directly to address the kind of questions that new buyers have. If you just want something to chuck at your new buyer so they understand how stuff works AND you also want brownie points for an education in avoiding Fiverr's worst sellers (including AI fakers), then you should watch out for that ebook.

And yes, it will be free. I fully expect this to be distributed in places I'd rather it wasn't, but don't worry: I've already accounted for this. All that's left is for a green light from CS.

It would be nice if I could have a job or two, Fiverr. I'm literally just creating my own mountain of content to while away the days here...

Just a quick update from Fiverr's Priority Support team, access to which will of course cost $39/mo after May Day if you're not a TRS.

The ticket is also not visible in that list of requests. Hm. S'OK. I wrote a follow-up.

.......Maybe because your question was unique and somewhat different from other sellers that they usually ask, so support does not have an "auto-response template" for your question, so they marked it as solved. 😂😂

TBF, it did say that my ticket had been added to another open ticket, but can you guess what my ticket queue looks like? The open one is the message above.

Well, I got the green light. Might make a new topic later, but more likely tomorrow. I am not sure I can attach PDFs in here anyway.

Meanwhile, I am trying to decide if the sign-off is nice or shade. I think he's being nice, so I wished him a pleasant day without angry sellers screaming at him.

But the purple coloring makes me wonder.... 🤔
