Hi everyone, I created my first gig today and I already had a customer writing to me asking for my email because the payment didn't work without it. I sent her my email and I got this email informing me that the order has been paid. When I click on the link, this page opens up for my confirmation. But the thing is that I have not received information about the order anywhere else, for example on the official website. And so it seems to me that this is a scam. And the client wrote in private messages on the site that she paid and asked to write to her when I confirm the order. I just haven't had any orders yet, so I'm not sure how it works. I will be glad for help.

I am afraid this is a scam

If you have already shared your bank details, contact your bank to report what happened and see if the transaction can be canceled

You should never share your email address. Fiverr orders are never processed through email exchanges. This is a common tactic used by scammers

Also Fiverr’s only legitimate domain is https://www.fiverr.com. Anything else should raise a red flag, like fiverr.tap2deal.shop

Take a look at this thread for more information:

Thank you so much! I didn’t share my bank details, as I supposed it was a scam when receiving such an email. But will there be any problems if I shared my email?

The only situation where sharing your email with a client is allowed is if it is absolutely necessary to complete the order. For any other reason, you should not share it

I am not 100% certain, but you may receive a warning message

Please take a look at Fiverr's Terms of Service for more details:

Wait so to complete the order they need my email address? I turned people away because I thought it was a scam with the weird screenshots. I made a separate account for strictly buying and I sent myself an offer from this account and at the pay screen it didn't ask for an email only payment 😅 so I thought for sure it's a scam.

No. They don't need your email address to complete the payment. Never give your email address out in the Fiverr inbox. The ones with the screenshots that say it's required are fake and scammers are doing it (even I had one of those scam messages recently and I'm not s new seller).

The quote of the terms of service said about "any necessary exchange of personal info... may be exchanged on the order page...".  And he said if you were offering a service where it was absolutely necessary to give that info out then it would be allowed on the order page (though for your email address I'd definitely check with customer support first). So that "any necessary exchange of personal info." normally is about the info the buyer needs to give for an order to be done (eg. if they want a business card creating with their info on it (which might include the company email address) then they can give that info on the order page requirements section, but giving that info in the inbox wouldn't be allowed).

Not sure if this is legit, but when someone pays can the send an order receipt where you have to scan a barcode to accept? or is that a scam?

It's a scam. Don't scan any QR codes people send you in the inbox. Don't give any buyer in the inbox your email address (lots of scammers show a fake payment page saying it needs it).

If you have a real order it will show on your Fiverr dashboard, and if you've set email notifications up you'll get one of those too.

Thanks! what will they think of next? It looked so real, but I did let them know I did not receive any notification and cannot find their order.

The same just happened to me. I scanned the QR code with my phone, and it directed me to the Fiverr website, which stated that the amount was paid!
Even the website's address looked correct! It’s a very convincing fake job!

Hello everyone! I am new to the world of Fiverr. I just got a message from the buyer and sent me an invoice with a QR code in it, as I scan the QR code it leads me to a blank website. I just do not understand... is this a scam? What should I do?  Also my second question is that even though the buyer has payed for my services, how do I proceed to start working on the project?

Is this Legit?

I believe I also recieved a message like this which was an image of what is meant to be a receipt of payment via paypal. The time stamp had the right month, day and year, but had a UTC time in the future. This absolutely could fool people, it even has the Fiverr logo. I will be reporting the user/message.

I got this today, and I filled out all the information as I am new on Fiverr. I read about emails and etc. but not this invoice message. I've already reported about this on Fiverr and locked my credit card, but do you know how long I should lock it? And will they always have my credit card info, like what they can do in the future?😭

Hi there, sorry to read of this experience and thanks for reporting this user. Sadly since you've provided your card information, the best thing would be to contact your bank to block this card and ask for a replacement card. I strongly recommend reading our Terms of Service, Community Standards and Terms of Payment before you continue using the platform, as any violation will only lead to restrictions and ultimately a blocked account, and when you continue the conversation outside Fiverr and share information, there's nothing to be done from our end. Good luck 🍀

Hello, i just barely started with my 1st gig few hours ago and I already got somebody in my inbox, sending in what seemed to be an invoice with a suspicious looking qr code. What do you guys think of this? The account that messaged me is also made this month apparently.Screenshot2024-11-21125244.png.0ac2c804843bff9a76b32e98f5384ecd.png
