How do I tell if I've been paid?

On a couple of instances now, I've been contacted by people asking for my services, I've given them an offer and they've just disappeared.
Have they taken the offer and I've not been notified or have they just given up because they couldn't trick me into giving it away for free?
How will I know if they've accepted the offer? What kind of notification will I get?
Also, what's the best way to respond to these kind of queries?

When your custom offer is accepted, the orders will appear on your dashboard. You will also receive a notification when someone purchases your gig.

Sometimes, even after offering the best custom offer possible, buyers don’t place an order and disappear. You shouldn’t be disappointed by this. Messaging those who haven’t purchased your gig might irritate them. So, if someone doesn’t purchase your gig, just move on and try to focus on acquiring new customers.
