Hello please help me

I am trying to save a video with transparent background in Adobe Premiere Pro. I had succesfully removed background using using ultra key but whenever I save it...there is black screen behind it. I have tried measues like export setting with quicktime,h.264.. I want to save it without background so that i can use it on another videos. Anybody have anyother solution.
I will be really grateful if anybody could help.

Can you save it in ProRes 4444 with an alpha channel (RGB+Alpha)? That will probably be a big file size but better quality. You could see if there are other codecs you have that can output RGB+Alpha in one file if the ProRes one is too big.

If there's an option to save an alpha only mp4 as well as saving the normal mp4 and can make it use the alpha only one later with the normal mp4 you could try that but it wouldn't be as good quality.

Any that say "with Alpha" (eg. the 4th 4 in ProRes 4444 means it allows an alpha channel I think).

So you can select Apple ProRes 4444 and in other settings make sure to select (if it's not already enabled by a preset) the "+alpha" (you can decide whether you need the 8 bit or the 12 bit etc. one - the higher one will just give more precision and a bit better quality but increase file size).

The Apple ProRes 4444 XQ with alpha should also work but it might be higher bitrate/filesize than you need (it will higher bitrate than the ProRes 4444).

Like I said, exporting a normal .mp4 and an alpha-only .mp4 might also work for you if you can set it to use the luma channel of the alpha-only .mp4 as the alpha channel for the normal .mp4 vid if you import both later, but it won't be as good quality as the ProRes ones.

Go Pro Cineform (with alpha) might also be a good option as that might be good quality but lower file size than the ProRes but you could try both.

Hey! If you want to export video with transparency go to export tab (or media encoder):

  • Format: QuickTime
  • Video Tab > Video Codec > Animation
  • Video Tab > Depth > 8-bpc+alpha

h.264 does not support aplha channel (transparency), but you can render both the video and alpha channel (I don't know what you need this video for).

Let me know if you need anything else :)
