First Order on fiverr & Gigs visibilities

Greetings my fellow freelancers.

Please how do I get my first order on this platform?

I've searched my gigs and couldn't find not even 1 out my 3 gigs, which literary means, my gigs are invisible to buyers let alone buying what I'm selling... 😢

The three sales I had was even derived from my facebook friends, I suggested fiverr for them as a great platform, but is this how I'm going to continue with my account??

In your book formatting gig, where you offer proofreading, maybe changing this line could help with orders:

"As a writer, i have help a lot of people in writing and formatting in which has help them in getting their project done...".

Your profile description starts with "Hey! good customer My name is...". Changing that might help if you are offering writing/proofreading.

Hey @uk1000 I have a question for you. Here we have a seller who is:

1. Trying to sell writing services in English as a professional.

2. Clearly not fluent in English, obviously struggling with tenses, verbs and basic grammar.

3. and of course, claims to be..

Why would you consider it a better option to rewrite their mangled English, helping them mask obvious deficiencies and dishonesty in order to sell some poor sucker a writing gig? A gig which which would of course deliver a product containing mangled English?  Would it not be far superior advice to suggest they not lie about being a native English speaker?

Though learning what exactly is wrong with it and rewriting it will help them improve their writing/proofreading skills. Yes maybe they should do more training to make sure they're skilled enough at all the services they're offering. Though maybe offering other services instead might be a better idea (or until they are skilled enough in the current services being offered, if they need more training).

If I did say something like that it might be against one of the forum rules (eg. rule 2 or 3).

Are you suggesting that your correction has enriched them with Fluent English skills, and they will now deliver quality work?  Please at least take my question seriously. You are enabling fake claims.

Amazing when they side with the scammers, even rewriting their words to mask the fraud.

Fiverr CS told me that as a proofreader, it is against TOS for me to rewrite another seller's gig descriptions. At best, I can only proofread them for conventions of English. I cannot rewrite sentences to make them flow better.

No, because I didn't suggest to them what to change it to. I left that for them.

I don't see this as a violation of rule 2 or 3. This is simply showing the hard facts to someone who is lying about his capabilities.

I suppose I could say it in a polite way to avoid breaking rule 2 or 3 (which say "Use respectful language when posting." and "Keep posts courteous...attacks on other members, staff, and support will not be tolerated. ". eg. saying "do not lie about" (which seemed to what was suggested) would probably be breaking that rule if I said that to someone.

So I'll say "consider changing the Native/Bilingual" setting next to English then.

Though the "Bilingual" part of it might be what is being claimed and might be correct, and might not necessarily mean the person speaks as well as someone with native English skills.

Are you claiming I've rewritten any of their words? If so please show me where I've done that.

Also calling a particular seller a scammer would also be breaking the Fiverr forum rules I think.

I often tell them not to lie.

Though it might be against something like "Keep posts courteous." or "negatively calling out sellers" (by claiming they are lying). It might be better to just say advise that they change that if it's incorrect that they are native/bilingual English speakers.

suggesting to a forum user that they do not lie about being a native English speaker on their main Fiverr profile would not be against the forum rules as long as it is done in a courteous and respectful manner without attacking or using offensive language towards the user.

The statement "do not lie about your English capabilities" could be considered disrespectful depending on how it is said. It is important to communicate in a polite and respectful manner when addressing someone's language abilities. Being tactful and diplomatic is crucial in effective communication... Ethical communication requires speakers to utilize language that listeners understand and to avoid being judgmental, accusatory, and overly critical.... It is also important to keep in mind that communication styles can vary depending on cultural norms... Therefore, it is recommended to use respectful language and to be mindful of cultural differences when communicating with others.

1) I didn't rewrite any of the OP's words. I just suggested 2 things that they could rewrite (one from the gig description and one from the profile description).

2) CS was talking about you as a proofreader/writer offering proofreading/writing gigs (and it might be against some internal policy not against the TOS otherwise it would actually say in the TOS that it wasn't allowed. It doesn't seem to say anything about rewriting or proofreading in the TOS, though maybe it could come under something like "misinterpretation" from the community standards depending on what was done).

But this is the Fiverr forum where there's an actual "improve my gig" section and there hasn't been shown any restrictions on suggestions that can be given in that section (even though this thread isn't in that section).

Thanks for this, I'll do that as soon I get home from school
