Question

Hello to all my friends, my request for assistance concerns the possibility of being scammed by a customer who is, let's say, "unusual," as is happening to me today. I would like to understand if he can download my final work and then cancel the order, keeping the file after I have delivered it. Is this possible? And if so, how can I protect myself from this?

Thank you to everyone who will help me understand

Yes, the buyer can cancel the order saying that he is not satisfied with the quality of the work or the work is not as per the instructions (or for any other reason), but the cancellation must be approved by both the parties. If you think you did a great job doing exactly what the client wanted, you can decline the cancellation request and explain to the buyer why the cancellation can not be accepted.

Things can sometimes get complicated and the buyer may also ask the customer support to cancel the order. In such a situation, the only way to protect yourself is to keep your communications as clean and professional as possible. When customer support comes to review your order and chat, they should not have the feeling that the buyer is telling the truth. Otherwise, they can directly cancel the order even without your consent. So, keep your order chats in such a professional and arranged way that even if a third person starts reading your chats, your messages get some weightage.

1. If you think you're on the right side, stand your ground.

2. Be professional in chat and always write everything in one message (instead of writing short lines of messages). This will also help customer support read and understand your side of the story more easily (if they come to review your order chats and deliveries).

3. Contact customer support if required. However, you are going to get the same auto-response that they can not force the buyer to accept the order, but at least it is better to try to take some steps than sitting idle.

Hi Ricky, yes it happens, not so much hopefully but same as thieves, there are always people that want to get things for free. You really have to be strict in your TOS, and deliver work as stated in buyer requirements so that you can always refer back to it. And always communicate this with the support team, mainly to report the buyer as not trustworthy as well perhaps. But you have to be realistic. Sometimes your work isn´t just as good as how the buyer expected it, but that is also why there are review options to still change it to make everyone satisfied. Goodluck 🙂
