Would you share your IP address with a seller?

just_ask_ela

Question

I have a new client who has Fiverr Pro status. He said he needs my IP address to whitelist me on the developer’s site. We will be testing the payment system in the developer’s sandbox using fake bank information.

The buyer is new to Fiverr. It’s a recurring gig that’s booked and paid for one week at a time.

I was thinking of sharing it through a guest account on my MacBook Pro.

What would you do? I’m just starting out, so I could use some seasoned sellers’ advice. TYIA

Sharing your IP address outside of Fiverr is against the platform's policies and can be risky. Instead, suggest alternative testing methods and consult Fiverr support if you have concerns. Prioritize your security and compliance with Fiverr's rules.

I think sharing an I.P address is also sharing your personal information which can be risky, even though the party requesting it is a Fiverr buyer, you might need to involve Fiverr CS for guidelines. The Fiverr buyer might want to whitelist you so that you could assess their website's backend. Doing this by the buyer is a preventative measure for protecting their site.
