Can I use Unsplash images in my gig?

Hi, I sell digital art of characters. Sometimes I use photos for the background of a reference sheet [The art I'm selling is mine, but the photos add to the atmosphere.]

 

Would I be allowed to sell reference sheets made with photos this way, if the photos were royalty-free, and gotten from a website like Unsplash?

As far as I know, You can use royalty-free/licensed images but can't use the images directly as is, you have to edit the images to some extent to represent your services.

I think Unsplash allows you to use images in your projects without any copyright issue.

Thanks everyone, I decided not to use the image, even though I would be editing it - I don't want to risk doing anything wrong, and the reference sheet looks just as good with a solid colour background. Thank you again!
