Sugestion of customer issued.

hi just ask for advice, 

i got customer let say at June 2022, he ask me to create connection with an certain Hardware, I gave him the software but the problem is he cannot test it momentarily because the device is not with him. so he simple left the gig and marked automatically complete by Fiverr, after 7 Month (Feb 2023) he got the device, on that moment i was sick, yeah i push my self to hard until i lay down on bed more than month. after that he contact me again, but here the problem begin, i already gave him full document but he said the software did not work, after I try to check it, turn out he Purchase device that have new firmware, the last device i tested have firmware 4.19 while his device has firmware 4.49, off course it's not working,  after I contacting with the device factory brand, i ask the SDK but  it also did not have Java Library example Anymore, which is make me harder to pull this out (it only have C++ and C# example, any other programming language then i need to make my own) . because of this so i gave him 3 option

1. Full Cancel, which is I dont  like it because it will affect my gig rate and visibility

2. Make Quick hack using C++ and C#, I Promise him in 3 days, but if not work then will do full cancel refund.

3. Wait Me for couple a month because, I need to purchase new Hardware, and also develop software that have compatible with new firmware 

 

at first we do option 2, but since this device new firmware using completely new protocol (before using SSP now using eSSP ), then he ask me option 1,  I ask Fiverr help and ask to refund all of his money.
now I try to make couple USD and want to purchase new hardware, but the customer which is already gave him full refund, still blame me for everything. the problem is he think that this job is easy and can pull it of in couple days without testing in hardware... i just afraid he tell the fiverr , because fiverr usually buyer sided... any advice ? thanks...

This is where new-work costs should have been discussed. (How much more work, how much will that cost the Buyer.)

And here is where you should have started talk about 'change orders'. This should really have been a completely new order.

It's a part of your job as a Seller to help the buyer understand what IS and what IS NOT a part of your service. Consumer education is hard, I know, but it's necessary, within reason.

It might be a good idea to send one last message,  something like:

"This will be my last correspondence with you. It's clear that I'm not the right Seller for you and your ongoing project. I wish you the best in finding a Seller who can accommodate your schedule."

Then block.
