Someone Hacked $5k from my Fiverr wallet

Hi there,

I've been going through a big crisis since May 4th. Someone hacked $5k from my Fiverr wallet at around noon. Including pending funds, the amount was more than 8k. The hacker could steal $5k as the maximum daily withdrawal limit is $5k.

Right after it occurred, I emailed the support team so they could take any action. After a couple of hours, they responded and temporarily disabled my account. They shared some procedures that I should have to go through, such as an antivirus scan, making sure the Fiverr emails are not going to spam or trash section, and resetting the account password. I followed those.

They responded about 7 days later and asked for more information:

  • Re-scan through antivirus and send a screenshot
  • Reset password
  • Last 4 digits of my phone number
  • Payoneer ID
  • Answer the security question
  • ID verification


I shared all those information and submitted my NID and selfie following the verification link provided, but they didn't respond yet.

So now I'm seeking help, as many expert freelancers belong to this community, what should be my next step to recover my account as fast as possible? And, is there any possibility to get the fund back that I have already lost?

Hey, No worries. Be patience. They will help you. Follow the steps they asked for and wait for their response. It will take some time because your account will be reviewed manually by the trust and safety team. So it might take some time. If you are a seller plus member then you can also talk to him/her. 

And some tips,
1. Do not unzip a zipped file without a scan, You can scan the zip file through there
2. Use antivirus and scan your whole system twice a month.
3. Never download any .exe file or never click on any.
4. Never allow anything from the web without reading.

I can see that his profile and gigs are live which means his account has been restored. But I can't say anything about the funds.

I got it back, thank you so much for your advice. I'm having an issue again with id verification. The account is restricted again. Could you please take a look at the recent post
