Illustration Artists Certification - Human Anatomy

As a repeat buyer of illustration artwork, I have found that the majority of gigs on Fiverr include artists who struggle with one key flaw that limits me from being able to hire them for my commercial projects. (Understanding of Body Anatomy - scale, placement, ratios, posture, etc.)

The value and options of gigs would improve immensely for other buyers if all artists on Fiverr had free access to different courses on the study of human anatomy and layout. Examples include: (hands, face, body, posture, etc.)

Art Station does not have this quality issue with their artist, but the platform isn't nearly as smooth in the process as what Fiverr offers. This simple change would add immense value to Fiverr for its buyers in my opinion.

Do any other buyers feel the same?

There are dozens of free tutorials by skilled artists on YouTube. As much as I agree with the wish to improve education, you can't force people to learn. The ones who want to learn, will. Dedication to self-education, and motivation to practice cannot come from external sources.

I'm not sure if Fiverr would offer it for free but its definitely possible to consider to add on to the official Fiverr Learn platform.  https://learn.fiverr.com/

They do offer coupons to sellers, right now its 25% off any course 😊

I do agree, accuracy of human anatomy is especially important in some cases - I found myself needing one when I had a case presentation to do on the human body! It may be a matter of finding a seller who does fit the style best.

@Lena - Hello Lena, just a kind suggestion/idea worth considering for the team 🙂

Hmmm, interesting.

I offer anime-chibi style images ( which means they have a huge head and small body), and the reason I chose to offer those styles were because they tend to be easier/faster to draw.
I majored in art/illustration and did figure life drawing every week with a live model, ( we had to hand in 50 drawings each week! ) so we learned about the human anatomy as well.
This post is making me think, maybe I should add a new gig for drawing more realistic figures with accurate anatomy, but I know already that the price isn't going to be low, and it will take muuuuch longer. 😅

What style of art are you looking for? A lot of the good/commercial art I have actually takes two sellers; a line specialist and a colour specialist. But, they tend to be anime, cartoon, and comics styles. I actually have a kind of opposite problem where I find it easy to find character artists and hard to find people who do landscapes, structures, mechanical objects, monsters, etc. But, it depends on your spec.

Hi! I think this kind of issue may occur because of the simplicity of joining Fiverr. There's in nothing to stop someone without the proper ability to do something and what matters more is the ability of advertising.

Said that, I agree with you, lot's of people can't draw anatomy properly and it can be noticed despite of the technique or style used. The only time in which this isn't a problem is when the idea itself is astonishing.

If you would like to give a look at my gig feel free to. I personally don't think to have problems with anatomy, but I would like to have your opinion. [link]

Understanding human anatomy is key to creating standout illustrations, especially for commercial projects, I also agree with the idea that the desire to keep learning and improving oneself rests with each individual, as there is a vast amount of high-quality learning material available on the internet.

I also believe that besides the technical aspect, we need to learn about ourselves and understand which style suits each of us.

Artstation does not have this issue because its filled with people who works for ubisoft or blizzard or whatnot. Whole purpose of artstation is to collect good artists. Its not because artstation teaches you stuff, its because they are there because they already know stuff.

Fiverr doesnt need any requirements to join. If you are a real person, you can create a profile. Apparently, you dont even need to know english, we see it everyday. That being said, you shouldnt expect fiverr to teach people the design fundamentals and advanced anathomy.

However, there are good artists in here. Hidden in the deep caves of the algoritm. Waiting for a buyer to bring a torch to them so they can be seen too 🙂

Totally agree. Anyone with a "trained eye" will immediately see from a portfolio whether an illustrator/artist can draw, knows anatomy, understands the laws of colour, tone and composition.

But algorithms don't care about that. And often it is not the high skill of drawing that comes first, but the popularity of a cheap and fast service, as well as the collected likes. That is why skilful services often sink. Well, you can't draw a detailed illustration in colour with a background in a couple of hours. Artist from Blizzard draws art not 1 week, but 2-4 depending on the complexity. And receives for such an art is certainly not 5-100$🥲.
