Delayed notifications

Why when I get an interested buyer, and since I check my notifications everyday, do I not get a notification for 5 days?  My average response time isn't 5 days, it's consistently been one hour.  Does anyone know why this happens because it looks extremely unprofessional and is quite embarrassing.
