That completely depends on the type of design you're interested in.

I, for example, as an AFoL, find LEGO design fascinating, and there are several books on NPU, SNOT, GBC, etc. I've seen and love!

I agree with @imagination7413, design is a vast field. In general i find the Taschen books about the History of Graphic design fascinating, also i still have to finish reading Renderwave Colorpedia, a magnificent compendium of illustration techniques and tips from various grat authors.

I love the book 'Design: The Whole Story' by Elizabeth Wilhide, I have it and I keep going back to it for inspiration, education, and the accessional boring afternoon.
