examples of projects

Fortunately, but inconveniently, I am super new to fiverr and likely don't know many basic patterns. Familiar however is the potential to post new projects seeking services, but would also like to know how to look in reverse instead at examples. This would be a way of becoming familiar with the language and possibly lead to a more successful outcome. Would I need to register myself a freelancer before this becomes clear?

Not quite sure what you mean.

If you use the search bar on the Fiverr main page you can research the different categories of gigs available.

As far as I can tell, the search bar is able to query services that are available, but the goal is to browse other projects seeking services. Is there something in the standard search that I am missing?

Yes that's what these search bar will show, services = gigs here. So services a person is offering. If you search logos, then you will see a whole array of logo services/gigs.

Fiverr's set up is focused more on the idea where it is a storefront for digital services/gigs. And the buyer goes directly to the seller. Hence why the search bar directly does that.

Yes, the reverse can be done. It's a place called buyer requests. So what you're describing is a buyer posting a buyer request. A seller will be able to see the list of these buyer requests that fall under their respective categories. Example, logo services will be able to see buyer requests related to logos. It looks something like attached below. A lot of sellers especially higher level ones don't look into this simply because a lot of requests are usually those who want X project with a budget that is too unreasonable.

Yes. Your account is by default a buyer, the same account can become a seller. (You're only allowed one account here and you will be able to switch modes once you become a seller) -- To become a seller you just need to create a gig/service. Here are the steps: https://www.fiverr.com/support/articles/360010451397-Creating-a-Gig . Once you have a gig set-up, you will be able to see buyer requests. But note that a new seller will not be able to see much, buyer requests are more accessible to sellers with levels. To become a seller with level you'll need to qualify for certain criteria - amount of sales, service rating, etc.

I assume you want to be a seller here? And understand what kind of projects are in demand? I doubt you'll find the route discussed above fruitful. Most likely you'll have to just use the search bar or navigate through the categories you see that is in line with a skill you have and see the top performing services.
