What things should an Ideal Portfolio include?

If you are an animator, say 2D animator, your portfolio should show all the BEST 2D animations that you have created till now. 
If you are a content writer, place your best written articles.

For me, an ideal portfolio is what shows the best capabilities of the seller that I am visiting
