Shh! 🤫 I Have A Secret to Tell You

Newbies,

For your own sake, it's not professional nor is it appropriate to post things about your clients. Let me explain,

* I give you a gratuity/tip. You post on forum. Even if you don't mention my name, I still feel violated. You should at the very least ask.

* I ask you to do an art for me, you give that to another client as a sample. Not cool!!

* You talk openly about something you've written, proofed, or edited for me. You didn't mention my name - but you still violated my privacy.

Anything you do for a paying client should stay between you and them. No exceptions! It's called privacy and goes a long way towards building a long term relationship!

I see way too many post that share private info. I know you're excited about your first sale, review, tip, etc. but know your limits.

So many of you talk about communication and satisfying a customer, but that should continue after delivery as well (by not sharing my stuff).

Allow the buyer to brag about you on the forum and elsewhere. It adds an air of legitimacy!

Oh my God!

Dunno what did I write above? Unfortunately I'm not allowed to edit my response for some dubious, mischievous reasons.

I actually meant that you were right.

It should be a part of the gig that the seller is taking on to ensure the buyer's privacy and not to share their work/s with anyone else.

Also, posting PDF files as gig samples must also belong to the seller, or they should have the written permission from the client/s to share their work as samples in public.

Hello Fiverr community. I recently hired a top rated freelancer in the lead generation space for a gig for finding leads relevant to my business.

To my dismay, after the gig was finished and I left a review, I've been getting LinkedIn spam connections and messages from other people selling their lead generation services. I made my Fiverr username my business name, and I also used my real name for my profile info (which I have since shortened to "FirstName LastInitial").

See below for a screenshot of what I'm talking about in my LinkedIn (sensitive info blurred).

Have you experienced this? What's your suggestion for avoiding this?

Thanks!

@foxhoundsystems, my username is my actual name and I never get that many messages/invites from LInkedin (even though it would be very easy to find me). I've only gotten a handful in the past 12 months and I ignored all those requests.

Do you think your information was shared as a "lead" to other lead generation specialists?

I've had a data entry specialist go behind my back and posted my confidential file on YouTube without my consent (he created a "How to" video using my data and was angry that I demanded he take the video down - he put in a lot effort to make that video). In my case, the data entry specialist had over 1k 5-star reviews so I thought I could trust him. He told me he "always" creates videos from his client's information and never had to ask for permission to use their data. That really shocked me.

Hi @vickieito. Thanks for the perspective/warning. While possible, I find this unlikely. If the freelancer I hired shared my info, he'd be encouraging competition and diminishing the chance of repeat business from me. I'm being contacted about the exact same service that I hired the original freelancer for.

I started getting contacted after I posted the review at the end of the gig, so I'm assuming these other contacts are reaching out to this top-reviewed lead generation freelancer's reviewers with the hope of siphoning off some business.

Good point. I guess you can report every one of them using the flag button. They're all violating ToS for trying to spam a buyer and contact you off the platform. Even if they are directing you back to Fiverr.

Hello,

I have made a ticket to the support to delete reviews in which the visual of my orders appears while the product is confidential for the moment.

How long do you think it will take to have them deleted by the support? Is there any option to do it myself? I know that the provider can't...

Thanks in advance 🙏

Fiverr Customer Support won't remove those images unless you show them proof that your buyers approve of the images being removed.

Technically, only buyers are supposed to make this request (the images belong to your buyers and buyers must approve the images before they're posted with the review).

However, as a seller, I'm able to remove images from reviews using screenshots of my buyers' approval. I let my buyers know that they accidentally approved confidential images to be included in my Live Gallery and ask for their permission to take it down. Once I have the screenshot, I'll send it to Customer Support and they remove the images right away.

you are right but the  sellers also need to showcase their portfolio.

It's all a matter of communication. If you have a project that you want to share you should talk about it with your client first or at the very least specify in your description that you hold the right to use the work in your portfolio unless an NDA or some other sort of agreement is reached. You can also make that an extra if you'd like, there is validity to buyers that don't want to appear in your portfolio paying a little extra to keep the delivered work completely private, sort of like a copyright and display agreement.

That being said at least in the design category I know we can choose to not display the completed work in the review, and I'm pretty sure that buyers have the option to not attach the final work as well on their end so that's good.

I agree, especially as a 3D graphics designer who creates really cool stuff. I get really sad when my buyer doesn't allow the product to be showcased in my gig, but okay it's life. Respect their privacy and their ownership to the product

I'm guilty of that. Well at least my 2-3 year younger self is. I was a crybaby, don't be me 😄

Stay professional guys, keep that "it's only business" mentality

Keeping it professional and separating emotion from business is such an important part of being a good seller. Even with a bad review, is best to take it and do better on your next order. Keep learning and growing from every experience even the bad ones.

I am in the same situation, but our buyers' privacy first, we should understand their concerns.

I also agree with @gina_riley2, If I have worked with any buyer, I never share the details/files/info with anyone or any platform. Copyright is transferred to the buyer once the order gets complete and if the buyer allows showing their work in the portfolio, then only I use it to show their work in the portfolio.
