Thanks!!

That's entirely dependent on what you classify as marketing. For some reason, a number of people think spamming their Gig links on their own personal social media pages and in those ridiculous Facebook groups is going to be effective when not one single person who is actually their target market will see their post. If you're just doing the above, then only your friends and family, plus other desperate looking sellers spamming their links will see your post, and they have no interest in buying your Gig.

This is from another forum topic I commented on earlier:

You need to create dedicated business pages and make them look refined and credible, you need to pay a professional to design you a logo and branding materials, you need to create engaging content to post that people will like and share so the platform pushes it out to more people, you need to network and interact with other professionals in your niche, and you need to invest money into targeted social media ads.

^ that is marketing, and how to do it effectively. It takes a lot of time and financial investment to do it properly.

So is marketing helpful? Definitely. But it needs to be done properly to have any benefit or you're wasting your time.

Social media marketing is not about randomly posting in different groups on Facebook. It is more about finding your target audience and then market your gig. You have to provide value to them so that they get to know your potential and are interested in your gig.
