Why has my buyer request gone into sleeping mode?

No. The support team does not step in and make sure sellers have buyer requests they can respond to. That's not their job, nor is the lack of buyer requests a problem that needs tech support to correct. Sellers are not guaranteed that they will see lots of buyer requests that they can respond to.
