Is it just me, or is it getting worse & worse by the day. It really is nauseating the amount of c**p being posted from certain quarters. Has the forum been taken over by 6 year olds?? Really is quite pathetic.
I don't know if I can take much more of this! 😢

Unfortunately a lot of the more experienced users recently stopped posting or cut down on the amount that they do post. You definitely feel their absence when browsing.

I hope you do stick around. I've always found your posts to be well thought out and interesting.

Got to be very careful how I put this, but...
Why is 95% of it coming from the same place? It's as though they've just discovered the internet & are pressing buttons for the sake of it! E commerce is meant to be a great leveller for the world's population, where anyone can join in and improve their lot in life. If the example being set by some on this forum is anything to go by, some simply do not even deserve the opportunity!

How do I set my notifications so I do not see page after page of how users I do not follow reacted to posts. I want to see post of people I follow. Most of these posts are made by people I do not follow and they do not follow me!  😩 I want to see what people I follow post and react to. Not all of this junk!

@vickiespencer, these people are restricted from posting because of reaching their post limit, so they select long threads and like every single post, without even reading them, until they get fed up. 🙄

I'm so tired of having pages and pages and pages of notifications... 😒

New members continually are going to long threads and liking every post. As the creator of the emoji threads this is what I see daily from various new users!

Oh Vickie I definitely received this level of fandom from the same user. He is on a liking spree!

There are dozens of YouTube videos telling potential sellers that they need to "give love" and "get love" to get more orders.

So, until any serious action is taken (which won't happen judging by the behavior of the forum team) nothing will change.

If I understood some explanations correctly, it's because their government is trying to encourage them to find work online, plus they have some institutes or whatever that are supposed to teach them how to do it, but are apparently teaching them all wrong.

There was a somewhat similar situation a few years ago with new users from another place (again, it was just one place, though that time, forums of other freelancing platforms were affected, as well); when that happened, the old forum was flooded with topics asking about terms of service (there were a few other questions, too, but basically, a person would start a topic and never show up again). It turned out that there were some "teachers" that were teaching them all wrong.

When it happened a few years ago, it looked like they left on their own, probably either after learning better, or after not getting any sales. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, many people have nowhere to go now, so they stay here and pray and spam.

How to be the best forum codependent: love topping 101.

Here's some love for ya my d34r 🥰

So, I got one love. I need 19 more 😁

And here's an example of what they are recommended to post:

Technically, they are recommended to post useless things to get likes and comments, as well as to like and comment whatever they see.

This is precisely the reason that the forum 'powers that be' need to stop this.

Consider, for every new user that 'legitimately' asks for assistance from established sellers on how to improve their gig; users who have every intention of taking on board those recommendations and acting upon them, there is a plethora of spam posts from users whose only goal is to get 'forum visibility', with no intention of making any alterations whatsover.

Not only are these spammers wasting people's time by asking for help, they are are diluting the pool of willing advisors on here who do want to help. I for one, really can't be bothered any more. There are never any supplemental follow up questions from the original poster - they don't care. We're lucky if we even get a thank you. They've achieved their objective and got a click. Pathetic.

And this negative practice surely goes to the core of what this forum is meant to be?  - a place where ideas and thoughts can be swapped constructively for the benefit of all. It certainly shouldn't be one where one part of the world presents itself simply to waste the time of everyone else!!!

I agree, I have given advice to several sellers who asked for help. Then I bookmark their gigs and they have not changed one thing! I fell like what is the use! 🙄

I've been in the same boat you are. Those new sellers aren't looking for any help whatsoever; they want people to make everything work for them, so that they can just sit back, and be rich. They seem to genuinely believe this will happen too. They have no goals, no work ethic, and no desire to build a business.

I do give advice every now and then too, ( not that much anymore recently for obvious reasons) and I'd say 98% of the time, it's the same thing:
Be sure to have SOMEONE proofread your description.
Take down writing/translation gigs if you clearly are not qualified.
Don't use stolen images.
Don't use stolen description.

And I've almost never see those sellers make those changes.
Every once in a blue moon, I do see people ask for advice in a certain way where I can tell that she/he IS serious. I give them some advice which I think will help, and yup, they make those changes!!

Seriously though, when I come to the forum and see that green bell notification thingy telling me there are 76 new posts, when I click on them 98% of them are "I don't have sales help me" posts.
I really need to swim through the sea of spam to find a post which I consider to be worth reading!

How about if they tied your forum permissions to your Fiverr level?

No Fiverr rank    read only
Level 1                react only
Level 2                react & reply
TRS                     start new threads, react, reply

As already stated, this won't work well. I made a post some time ago, which is likely buried now, with some ideas for improving the forum. And since it was stated that forum participation isn't tied to gigs this implementation will likely cause a virtual riot. One of the ideas that I proposed was to implement some form of orientation.

Whether or not the orientation idea will work or not is hard to gauge especially with how new additions are rolled out.

The people who need the orientation will pay as little attention as they have to the thousands of threads of advice they have already received.  They will just post "Thank you for kind informations, go ahead more."

...I think I responded to one of those today...

...Checked my posting history. Yup.

Hey, Google, site:community.fiverr.com "took support from fiverr"

Two results, both in July. So this is at least that old. The new forums came online in... June?

An interesting thing about games (and gamification). The more complex the game, the more important the CLEAR and WELL-DESIGNED tutorial

and

Press :classic_sad: to skip.

I'm going to repeat this idea: make rewards only available after three months.
