Are timestamps in chat reliable?

Example: You see that a potential customer has said something with a timestamp at Sep 07, 8:00 AM; you respond immediately, but notice that it says CustomerX was last seen 2 hours ago.  😆 That seems impossible, so which of the two is correct?

Yeah, it's not reliable at all. The only thing I trust is when they are green, then I think they really are online.
