How to get my first order or message from potential buyer?

Hello Everyone. 

I realize this question is asked a lot, but here goes 🙂 I've been a mostly inactive seller on Fiverr for many years. Recently, I have diligently tried to get a real proofreading gig up and running on this site. Naturally, I went to fellow sellers for some graphics and promotion. However, despite getting many clicks and impressions from a promotion, I haven't been able to get one sale or inquiry. Also, it seems my gig just will not show up in any keyword search 😞 Even on the 10th page or more.

I feel the best way to get orders is to get ranked in the fiverr search, and to a lesser extend with promotion on social media, etc. Am I doing something wrong?

In a sense yes, but to get what you described as "ranked" or higher up in the search results is to have sales and many good private and public buyer feedback/reviews in the first place. So you have to get sales first before being prioritized in the search results. Buyer requests and effective marketing is where that is at. The space is becoming more saturated so you will have to stand out from your competition.
