Don't ask for free stuff

Hello everybody! I know there are only few buyers that ask this, they are few but they do exist, its not a good thing to do, I know some sellers fall on this because they might need the work or have free time to do it (maybe I would do the same if that was the case), what am I talking about? the following:

For example I'm a graphic designer and I have meet some buyers that want a "free test", "free sketch" "free template", if they like this free thing then they hire me, I just tell them kindly: sorry, I dont work in that way.... they asnwer "but the other freelancers did it for free".. me: sorry I dont work for free. The most recent case happened to me yesterday, I had to post this, thanks for reading.

Oh yes, the famous "Other freelancers did it for free."
Well then, go ask those freelances who are willing to do it for free then!
Then they would say "Well, I liked your style and you have good reviews so I wanted to ask you."
I go "OK, thank you for choosing me, it would be blah-blah dollars."
Then they'll say "I just want to check if you're style is right. Just a quick sketch is fine."

...Didn't you just say you liked my style?
I usually end it with "I'm sorry, no free samples, no discounts."

And block them.

In actuality, the test will be what they want, and they will steal it from you. Never do free samples. I have a quick response all set up for that which goes like this:

Hi xxxxx,

Thanks for contacting me. I would be happy to work with you, however, because of the volume of work we do, we unfortunately aren't able to provide custom samples.

You should easily find the delivery style you prefer by checking the samples on my YouTube channel:

Or my Fiverr portfolio:

Otherwise, you could pick a few lines of text from your script, and order a 50 word test gig, for which I can send you a custom offer at $40.

Thanks,

Mike

You need to build perfect portfolio when someone want want a free test then you will show your portfolio. You can build multiple portfolio about your service. There are some buyer who want a free test , if they like this free thing then they hire you but after getting the sample tell they didn't like your work. Some buyer want a free test, After contact you they will hire other seller after complete your test template tell that didn't like your sample. So, You can make portfolio when they want a free test then you can show your portfolio if they like your sample then they will hire you. It's not not good for to make a template, Most of the buyer didn't want a free test.

I have an idea. For special cases, if you have already decided to do a 'free test'.
You can use large watermarks and an image in a small extension. :"D

People have said that the scammers even steal and use with the watermark. You are not dealing with quality people. Best to just not pick up the pen, the mouse or the headphones till the cash register rings.
