So I just got into it. How many months will it take to get my first order?

I have worked a 9 to 5 for the past 11 years. Got fired post covid and am now here trying to see if I can make a living online. Whats the prognosis people? How good or bad is it here?

Honestly, this depends on many things - if you can present yourself well (decent profile, good gig images, etc. etc.) AND have a great deal of talent (plus some luck) you could do well. However, people who try to get into super-crowded categories might end up getting 0 sales for a very long time. It took me a long time to start making an actual living (and I'm Hungarian, so it's not that much money just yet, just enough.) but some might have been much luckier - so it depends.

I got my first order in days and in 2 years I'm close to 1k reviews. One tip I have for you I've done with all my gigs, start by charging $5, no matter how much time you put in. The quicker you get good reviews in, the quicker you'll progress in my opinion. Yes you'll have to put yourself out at first and get very little back, but see this as a worthy investment of your time and just think of the long term goal. This worked so well for me. Within weeks I had a good number of 5-star reviews and in no time at all I was slowly increasing my prices.

Also see every problem and challenge as an opportunity to improve. Always go over your description and FAQ's to see what improvements can be made. Even your images and videos. Never settle, always push for better with everything and you'll be crushing it in hopefully no time!

It depends what you do (probably over half of new sellers receive an order within 2 or 3 months). If you're haven't had orders in about 3 months try sending offers to buyer requests you can do well. Try updating your gigs and/or creating additional ones. Try adding more to your gig descriptions. You're using 2 to 3 search tags. More might help (eg. the data entry search tags of "data" and "entry" probably aren't going to help enough). Maybe check if anything could be changed in your profile, including skills listed. Maybe make each gig image unique and where the image makes it clear what the gig is about.
